We are seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer to lead the technical delivery of MetLife Investments Digital and Data Platform.


The ideal Lead Software Development Engineer Cloud Platforms candidate will possess prior technical leadership experience in insurance/financial industry, strong development, communication, collaboration, and project management skills, also have hands-on experience in leading complex financial systems projects using cloud and on-prem technologies with ability to influence people across the organization.


  • Investments Data Lake buildout
  • Buildout of service oriented and event driven architecture that enables governed and validated data provision for consumers out of lake
  • Intuitive UI for adjustments of data in lake and process orchestration
  • Work on a high impact team
  • Experts in the group who are good mentors, stable group low turnover
  • Investments is high visibility LOB with critical work of buildout of future state data platform that enables business with informed investments decisions and impact company bottom line


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical and project leadership to a project team that is building foundational solutions using Azure Cloud platform for MetLife Investments functions.
  • Communicates recommended architectural vision, data strategies as well as cloud roadmap strategies and obtain buy-in from key internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the product line architect to review solution design and roadmap.
  • Enable product delivery through hands-on development and in collaboration with developers, analysts, and business to build fully vetted products that ensures that new capabilities are implemented according to enterprise standards.
  • Leads project planning activities in an Agile SCRUM environment to define the milestones and activities within a comprehensive project plan to ensure project is on time and budget.
  • Prepares detailed requirements, technical and functional documentation


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • 2 years of experience in Finance and/or Asset Management developing cloud-based solutions. 
  • Full stack engineer background with ability to write object-oriented, self-documenting, maintainable code
  • Knowledge in Azure PaaS


  • Experience with Agile SCRUM and Azure DevOps
  • Working knowledge of Azure components like Cosmos, Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Data Lake/BLOB Storage, Azure Functions, LogicApps, ASE, ServiceBus, Event Hub, SQL PaaS, Synapse, KeyVault etc.
  • Experience around information risk, security, PII, SOX and legal compliance requirements.
  • Experience in Data Platform Design Patterns and Restful services architectural design and development
  • Extensive experience with managing offshore teams and/or vendors
  • Master's degree a plus
  • Microsoft certification in Azure Solutions Architect a big plus
