Lead Full Stack Software Engineer

MetLife Investments IT is looking for a Lead Full Stack Software Engineer specialized in investment management Front Office and Middle Office system development. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills in enabling both privates and public asset sectors. The candidate is expected to have strong tracking record of leading technical design and development of cross functional, multiplatform application systems to solve complex investment management business problems.

 

Functional Responsibilities

  • Leads the technical design/development/integration of solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms. Responsible for front & back-end development in Investment Front Office and Middle systems for Public Fixed Income and Privates Capital asset class domains.
  • As a senior technologist on the product team, Leads the collection and documentation of user requirements as well as the development of user stories and estimates into technology solutions in collaboration with Product Owner
  • Influences business and IT leadership with emerging technology trends and capabilities that align to investment management FO/MO system portfolios.
  • Responsible for peer reviews of product designs and related code for value streams/products. Ensures code meets best practice guidelines set by application/platform vendor.
  • Ensures vendor applications/platforms are current on security and privacy mandates set by the MetLife security teams.
  • End-to-End responsibility of system availability and data availability to support business growth. Provide technology leadership and oversight for investigation and resolution of escalated production management incidents, problems, and service requests.
  • Identifies and implements operating efficiency solutions for product portfolio. Responsible for platform technology currency.
  • Responsible for ensuring disaster recovery, privacy and security are aligned to enable application/platform stability.
  • Offers technology thought leadership. Mentors technical staff. May lead a matrixed technical team

 

Required experience and key competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields 
  • 10+ relevant years of work experience in investment management technologies
  • 5+ yrs of hands on experience working with Public Fixed Income (e.g. Corporates, Govts, MBS, ABS, CMO etc) and/or Private Capital (e.g. Private Credit, Residential Whole Loans etc) Front / Middle Office Technologies
  • Deep understanding of investment management FO/MO business processes and asset classes
  • Demonstrated experience in investment  management platforms such as BlackRock Aladdin, Allvue or the like
  • Must have solid experience working with SAFe / Agile Delivery Model, DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines, test automation technologies
  • Subject Matter Expert in .Net and/or Java technology suites, and SME in various Database technology, preferably SQL/Server and NoSQL
  • Experience in Cloud Computing including migration from on prem to Cloud, inclusive of several of the following: Azure Data Lakes, Synapse, Azure ML, and serverless, are a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills w/ ability to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as facilitation/influence skills, and ability to mentor junior developers
  • Highly motivated and thrive in an environment where problems are open-ended.
  • Excited about technology, have a strong interest in learning and playing with the latest technologies
  • Customer Service Orientation and strong teamwork
  • SAFe, Agile, and Technical Certifications in area of expertise, are a plus
