The Role

You will be responsible for managing all facets of client service for private asset clients. In this highly visible client facing role, you will be responsible for onboarding/offboarding, regardless if a client invests in a managed account or a Fund. Additionally, you will perform all daily/monthly/quarterly reporting requirements, daily reconciliations of all cash and positions, perform asset transfers, and settlement of all Private trades. You will also set direction for the operating model and structure of the team to support ongoing business needs.

  • Reports to: Managing Director | MetLife Investment Management
  • Reports: 7 direct, 4 indirect
  • Key Stakeholders: Private Asset Portfolio Management,  Investment Operations, Compliance, and Legal


Manager Responsibilities:

  • Define individual roles (including new hire requirements)
  • Further develop the strategy to build a scalable platform that leverages other areas of MetLife that will improve the operational efficiency of the organization
  • Establish capacity and performance metrics
  • Enhance existing training program (cross-training if roles are setup for specific asset type)
  • Oversee team and individual performance (Year end ratings and reviews)
  • Participate (and potentially lead) in new business projects as needed
  • Establish regular engagement with business partners to ensure objectives are being met
  • Engage in regular 1:1 and team meetings to create strong communication, sense of ownership, and solicit contribution of ideas and implementing them
  • Ability to prioritize (and re-prioritize) at a moment’s notice if situation demands


Team Responsibilities:

  • Manage the client onboarding, offboarding, and change management process
  • Setup and manage funding of new private deals
  • Reconcile and manage oversight for cash and position reconciliations
  • Produce and deliver timely and accurate client reports to Private Capital client base
  • Participate in projects to achieve efficiencies and improve existing processes
  • Effectively answer ad-hoc and/or follow-up questions clients
  • Provide exceptional customer service to extend existing clients satisfaction
  • Acts as a liaison between the client and internal MetLife teams
  • Collaborates to ensure all operational and service aspects of the IMA are correctly interpreted and implemented
  • Collaborate with and act as a liaison with Third Party Administrator to assist with problem resolution and trouble shooting
  • Support audits and/or regulatory examinations (Internal Audit, SSAE18, SOX)
  • Participate in cross functional project teams
  • Attend client meetings as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Develop standard processes to route customer queries to correct department for timely resolution.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Business Administration, Marketing or Finance degree
  • 10+ years relevant experience in Financial Services industry and Investment Products (Private Debt and Credit, Public Fixed income)
  • Previous experience planning and managing client projects
  • Advanced problem solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Attention to detail, professionalism
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce), Client Reporting Applications (i.e. Vermilion)
  • Strong team-building and organizational skills, established success in leading diverse teams of both direct and matrixed reports in a complex environment.
