Institutional Client Group

The Institutional Client Group is responsible for driving the firm’s strategy and business development efforts with institutional investors, globally.

 

The Role: Director of business development is responsible for acquiring new and expanding existing Real Estate relationships with institutional clients and consultants.  The Director will work in close partnership with ICG colleagues and the RE investment teams to build and implement regional and client specific sales and coverage strategies, including consultants, globally.  This director level role will partner with, and report to, the head of real estate sales for ICG.

 

Key Relationships:

  • Reports to:  Head of Real Estate Sales, ICG
  • Key Stakeholders: External clients, Real Estate, product development       

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify, initiate, and then manage new and existing institutional and consultant relationships and continuously engage with those relationships to communicate the investment strategies and performance of MIM’s Real Estate capabilities.
  • Effectively execute the capital raising process in order to contribute towards achieving the goals and objectives of each fund/strategy, in addition to new product opportunities.
  • Partner with global ICG colleagues to ensure MetLife's Real Estate capabilities are represented consistently in all markets.
  • Develop and maintain a deep and thorough understanding of MetLife’s investment capabilities and its competitive positioning in the institutional investment management market.
  • Contribute to the strategic development process for new investment strategies and products. Participate in industry functions and share knowledge gained pertaining to investor preferences, capital flows and emerging trends.
  • Assist with special projects and other related duties as assigned.
  • Enhance overall fluency and sales capacity of ICG, globally.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Real Estate investments experience, including equity/ real assets and mortgages or relevant experience
  • Sales or Client facing experience
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across sales, product development and investment teams.
  • Institutional experience with relationships across distribution channels a plus (e.g., consultants, public/private pensions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments & foundations, financial intermediaries, etc.)
  • Series 7 or willingness to meet the requirement within six months
