The Role:

The Client Portfolio Management (“CPM”) team is responsible for overseeing the construction and management of the Private Fixed Income portfolios for MIM clients, adhering to the investment guidelines that were developed by MIM and the client.  The CPM team pursues select new external Private Credit clients by preparing RFP responses and participating in client pitches and presentations.  The MIM Client Portfolio Management team sits within MetLife’s Private Credit group.  The team works alongside Private credit analysts, who are responsible for deal origination and credit monitoring, and are supported by MIM Operations, Legal and Compliance.  The CPM team also works with MIM’s Institutional Client Group (ICG) by providing asset class expertise in support of their sales efforts.

 

• As the Portfolio Manager, you will be a key contributor to building strong client relationships by understanding the client’s business, investment objectives and investment guidelines, and by helping to keep clients updated on key developments affecting their portfolio. You will also be a key contributor to marketing to both new and existing clients and helping develop more efficient client engagements and a superior private marketing platform.

 

• As the Portfolio Manager, your goals will be centered on communicating relevant credit updates and new deal information to the client, improving the client reporting process,  improving monitoring of compliance with client guidelines, working with ICG to develop better tools for measuring and monitoring client satisfaction, and supporting cross-selling of other MIM products to our current clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a deep understanding of the client’s business, investment objectives, and investment guidelines.

• Communicate with clients by telephone, email or in person, to provide portfolio information and answer other general account questions on a timely and accurate basis.

• Work closely with the Portfolio Manager and private securities’ credit analysts to understand the market, new deal opportunities, credit issues affecting the client’s portfolio, and amendment requests.  Communicate the relevant information to MIM clients in an effective and efficient manner.

• Manage ad hoc client projects and information requests.

• Oversee operational issues to ensure effective resolution by the relevant parties.

• Manage quarterly client reporting package.

• Build and strengthen client relationships through ongoing contact, professionalism and high level of responsiveness and proactive efforts.

• Help to develop a robust client service model; make suggestions for process improvements.

• Work closely with ICG, the CPM Portfolio Managers and the Private Credit Strategist to assist with marketing to existing and new clients.

• Work with the ICG, the CPM Portfolio Managers and the Private Credit Strategist to lead the development of new product delivery methods as needed, such as the development of a private fund.

Candidate Qualifications:

   Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

• 5-7 years of credit investment experience

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Working knowledge of securities such as high-grade bonds, high yield bonds, bank loans, private placements

• Highly motivated, self-starter, strong organizational skills

• Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure without sacrificing attention to detail

• Strong team player and collaborative-driven attitude

• Solid accounting and/or financial analysis experience

• Effective presentation skills and comfort interacting with senior investment management

• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
