The Role

The Assistant Portfolio Manager for the Affiliated Insurance Company (AIC) is a dynamic and integral role in the MIM Real Estate group.  As the Director, Assistant Portfolio Manager  you will oversee certain aspects of portfolio management of MetLife’s approximately $50 billion AIC commercial mortgage portfolio. In addition, you will interact with several constituents, including AIC leadership, MetLife Real Estate leadership, teams across real estate and Legal.  The role is suited for candidates that seek strategic portfolio management experience and indirect transaction experience.

 

Key Relationships:

Reports to: Managing Director, Debt Strategies Group, Real Estate, MetLife Investment Management Reports: No direct

Key Stakeholders: Client, members of the Real Estate team, Investment Committee

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Portfolio Management and Surveillance:

  • Partner with Portfolio Manager in advising client of market trends, transactional activity and critical portfolio updates.
  • Independently manage quarterly review process for client. Determine special topics with client and develop presentations.  Present during quarterly reviews.
  • Lead bi-weekly meetings with client, discussing origination and portfolio updates.  
  • Attend Investment Committee for relevant client transactions.
  • Independently manage process for Investment Committee Board of Directors specific notifications of large transactions.
  • Partner with Portfolio Manager, Legal and other teams in development of new products for client.
  • Compile and present Surveillance materials for senior leadership meetings. 
  • Partner with Head of Surveillance and regions in loan restructurings.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, IT and regions in transition of existing LIBOR loans to SOFR replacement index.
  • Manage ad hoc projects

Other:

  • Years of experience:  6-8 years of real estate experience
  • Degree preferred:  Master’s in Real Estate or Business Administration
  • Strong interpersonal, skills.
