Role Value Proposition: 

The incumbent will be responsible for a wide variety of functions to support MetLife’s advocacy objectives in the United States and globally.  As part of the Global Government Relations team s/he will provide support in advancing the company’s policy goals and objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for a wide variety of functions that support MetLife’s advocacy objectives in the Unites States and globally.
  • Functions include:
    • management and prioritization of research on laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions (domestic and international) that may affect the company;
    • drafting memos and communicating with interested parties on activities with potential adverse consequences or opportunities;
    • representing MetLife in meetings with stakeholders;
    • providing meeting readouts and other written material;
    • supporting executive meeting preparations; representing the company at key industry, governmental and third-party meetings or events and articulating the company’s policy positions;
    • navigating the legislative and regulatory process in multiple jurisdictions;
    • collaborating within and across teams to achieve common goals;
    • examining news media, academic reports, and other analysis to anticipate any potential impacts to our business;
    • developing and maintaining a network of relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
    • participating in and/or managing internal and external meetings and events.
  • In connection with the responsibilities listed above, the incumbent will partner with the International Government Relations (IGR) leadership team to support the general advocacy objectives, including the strategic planning process.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 8 -10 years of experience in advocacy management.
  • Ability to operate within a global environment and demonstrate international cultural agility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, executive presence, capacity for learning and articulating new and existing concepts, ability to think strategically, organizational capabilities, flexibility working within and across teams, effective problem-solving and conflict resolution, independent decision-making, and customer-centricity.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Writing samples required.
  • 2+ years of experience in advocacy management.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.



Some travel required.
