Job Summary

This role leads the team in building the IT project manager strategy for MetLife Japan's programs and projects, as well as managing the application of methodologies and SDLC to project management in MetLife Japan's IT.  This role will be a highly collaborative role that will partner with application development, production support, infrastructure, IT security, finance, procurement, legal, and business PMO teams to improve project management methodologies and to execute MetLife’s strategic programs and projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update project management strategy in line with Company/IT strategy
  • Oversee projects which need attention and ensure all projects are in good health
  • Ensure projects management methodology and SDLC are in place to all projects
  • Standardize and maintain project management methodologies, tools, and reports, encourage application to each project
  • Management and update of development-related rules related to whole IT
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with application development, production support, infrastructure, IT security, finance, procurement, legal, and business PMO teams and other departments involved in the programs and projects
  • Oversight issues, mitigations and resolutions in Program & Project Method. & Execution Team
  • Work with Portfolio Management team, IT Financial Management team, Vendor Relation management team, IT strategy & Governance team and Agile Execution team to modernize and simplify the program and project execution

 

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in large scale IT projects, particularly in project management
  • Certified or significant relevant experience with Agile and product aligned delivery model
  • 3+ years of experience in managing a team as a line manger
  • Deep knowledge of project mgmt. principles & techniques
  • Keen to learn and adapt to changing environment
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and take a leadership position in order to drive successful outcomes in a highly matrixed environment (with global and regional influence)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related
  • Great speaking and writing skills of Japanese and English

 

Preferable

  • Global project management experience
  • Experience in life insurance company
  • PMP certification
  • Knowledge of project management systems / processes / tools
