Role Value Proposition: 

This function develops, maintains and enhances metric reports to support operational activities within the Long Term Care (LTC) department.  Determines validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached.  This function will be committed to delivering the highest level of service to internal customers within the LTC and Finance departments and to external business partners.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Designs, develops and maintains the MS Access database to be used as a consolidated resource for operational activities and reporting (i.e. must be experienced using VBA, macros, creating custom forms, data connections and reports).
  • Interacts effectively with individuals in various levels and departments to understand processes and opportunities for optimization and automation
  • Compiles and analyzes operational and transactional data and creates high level reports of operational financial and performance results, including trend analysis, status of major initiatives, escalating issues, and potential solutions
  • Assists with delivery of complex Department of Insurance reporting and rate action filings
  • Develops operational reports to support management activities using best practices
  • Explains how operational activities impact financial results
  • Builds relevant metric summaries and compares actual results vs. plan results
  • Monitoring metrics and proposing ideas and solutions to variances
  • Develops, maintains and enhances operational work flow reports containing short and long-term projections (ex. capacity/staffing models)
  • Finds creative and efficient solutions to merge data from multiple data sources
  • Improves/eliminates existing tools used to track manual processes
  • Creates/contributes to PowerPoint presentations shared with senior management
  • Develops complex data models and presents/supports findings to senior management
  • Facilitates discussions with various levels of management to review requirements and/or findings
  • Assists with delivery of complex Department of Insurance reporting and rate action filings
  • Develops SharePoint lists, libraries, forms and other solutions to support business requirements
  • Performs thorough QA on solutions to ensure data integrity
  • Documents all processes resulting from new solutions to ensure business continuity
  • Ability to identify, aggregate and project at the individual associate and unit level: inventory, intake, productivity, cycle time, outcome ratios, accuracy
  • Recommends and implements process improvements to achieve cost savings, improved data capture, service upgrades and/or fraud prevention, updating documentation as required
  • Partners with IT to obtain appropriate database and business intelligence software access 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • 5+ years of MS Access application development (i.e. VBA, macros, custom forms, data connections, ETL, reporting, etc.)
  • 5+ years’ experience in data focused roles (Business Intelligence, Database, ETL, Advanced Analytic systems)
  • Strong understanding of database structures , complex query writing and report development
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present/support recommendations in multiple settings to senior leadership
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field



  • 5+ years in long term care, finance, claims operations, case management, insurance or related environment
  • 5+ years report development experience in Cognos/Qlikview
  • 5+ years writing complex SQL queries
  • 5+ years ETL experience (ex. SSIS)
  • 3+ years database development (preferably SQL Server)
  • 3+ years SharePoint/InfoPath development experience (lists/libraries/forms)
  • 3+ years’ experience with predictive modeling software (R, SAS, SPSS)
