Role Value Proposition

This position is responsible for accounting advisory support at a transaction-level, for multiple product lines across domestic and international segments.  Accounting advisory support covers new product offerings/services, as well as enhancements as dictated by changes in administration systems/policies and/or financial reporting requirements.  This senior position requires technical and functional expertise with minimal supervision.  


The Product Accounting team is engaged with multiple business, technology, and finance partners for accounting updates, approvals, and validation efforts before production implementation.  The Product Accounting team ensures accounting and financial reporting specifications are coded appropriately for GAAP and Statutory reporting line impact.  The Product Accounting team also provides advisory support for production accounting inquiries from various departments throughout the year, including those emanating from internal/external audits.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Interaction with various business and technology partners and disciplines involved with the development and the roll-out of new products and enhancements. 
  • Development and monitoring of multiple project plans with a commitment to deadlines and deliverables for accounting requirements.
  • Analysis of product-related financial transactions to ensure appropriate accounting impact for financial reporting lines on a US GAAP and US Statutory (or local country regulatory) basis.
  • Development of accounting specifications for new products or enhancements to existing products at a transaction-level, followed by presentation to governance partners for approvals.
  • Validation and approval of enhancements within multiple test environments to ensure compliance with accounting specifications.
  • Support for corporate initiatives related to finance infrastructure and regulatory requirements.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills 


  • 5-8 years of accounting experience with MetLife’s policy administration systems, or equivalent in the insurance industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.



  • Baccalaureate in Accounting or Finance; Accounting is preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent knowledge of US GAAP and/or US Statutory accounting principles.
