As a member of MetLife’s Global Financial Close team, the Senior Financial Analyst position will be responsible for activities in support of the monthly and quarterly financial close and accurate and timely preparation of consolidated financial statements for MetLife Inc. and applicable subsidiaries. This position works with associates at multiple levels within the organization.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supports timely and accurate completion of monthly/quarterly closes. This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • Monthly update, quality review, and oversight of certain close processes including interaction between ledgers and HFM.  Identifies and helps bring issues to resolution. 
    • Monitor the timing of ledger feeds, etc. in coordination with the global finance support team and regional controllers.
    • Performs reconciliation of enterprise wide inter-company transactions and balances. Identifies and brings issues to resolution. Communicates with stakeholders as needed.
    • Monitors equity accounts on a monthly basis and certifies opening balances quarterly.
    • Record/process HFM entries and maintain entry log. Support audit testing of entries.
    • Coordination / distribution of financial information to external auditors.
  • Reviews, enriches and approves ledger chart of values requests.
  • Works on ad-hoc customer requests, audit requests and projects as assigned.
  • Continually seeking opportunities for improvement, and partner with internal and external teams to implement best in class processes.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting/finance or reporting.  


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business or an applicable field of expertise.
  • Strong PC skills (MS Excel 2010)
  • Experience working with HFM and Peoplesoft
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work with associates at all levels, including senior management
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and effectively cope with change, including independently learning new skills and knowledge as required.
  • Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work on initiatives independently
  • Experience with foreign currency translations a plus.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry, including GAAP and statutory accounting / principles a plus.
