Role Value Proposition: 

Senior Financial Analyst within the Global Securities Accounting & Controls group.  Responsibilities include performing a variety of financial reconciliations and analytics to verify the accuracy of ledger balances for bond and equity securities held by MetLife. Additionally, this candidate is a key contributor to ensure accurate reporting of financial results on a monthly/quarterly basis. The position reports to the Director of the Global Securities Accounting & Controls group.   

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review complex transactions and prepare/post journal entries
  • Sub-ledger vs ledger financial balance reconciliations
  • Researching of reconciliation breaks and documentation of reconciling items
  • Assist in financial data analysis, trending for month-end close , reporting submissions and ad-hoc reports
  • Participate and assist with continuous process review and improvement, including increasing automation with technology

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

Required:

  • 3+ yrs. financial experience in a public or private company environment
  • Working knowledge of GAAP/STAT/IFRS/JGAAP/Solvency II accounting concepts, principles, and practices
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc) required

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting 
  • Proficiency in Access (tables, queries, etc), Alteryx or programming languages a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, solve problems and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems (PAM, BI Publisher, PeopleSoft, HFM) a plus
