Role Value Proposition: 

This position serves as a senior level employee relations subject matter expert and is responsible for receiving, managing, resolving and documenting complex employee relations inquiries and issues, and for conducting investigations into employee complaints. This position also serves as a liaison/relationship manager and as the point of contact for an assigned business’ HR partners.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working under minimal supervision, provide effective service, support, consultation and resolution of complex ER inquiries and issues through the informed application of company policies, programs, procedures, and federal/state laws.
  • Provide response, consultation and successful resolution of employee relations questions and inquiries involving employees at all levels, from front-line non-exempt employees to senior level executives.
  • Provide consistent guidance and direction to managers in the handling of complex employee matters, including disciplinary recommendations, associated documentation, and preparation for employee conversations.
  • Conduct and document thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints following established processes and documentation guidelines.
  • Document inquiries, actions and outcomes into the case management system to ensure appropriate records are retained.
  • Perform quarterly (or as needed) compilation, analysis, and review of case data to share significant issues, trends and concerns with HR business partners.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 8-10 years of employee relations or human resources generalist experience
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct formal investigations involving all levels of interaction and providing appropriate recommendations to senior business leaders.
  • Excellent consultative, listening, and verbal/written communication skills; ability to influence, negotiate and convey recommendations and opinions persuasively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive, emotional and confidential situations in a composed, discrete and professional manner.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to research information, analyze data, and use sound judgment to draw valid con
  • clusions, prepare recommendations and build plans of action.
  • Ability to establish credibility, build rapport and create trust in a virtual setting.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to collaborate effectively and partner well with others.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

The wage range for this position specific to Colorado is 85,700.00 - $114,300.00.  The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the MetLife Annual Variable Incentive Plan ("AVIP").  Your eligibility for and award of incentives are governed by the terms of the plan.
