Manager - Plan Change

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for the oversight and execution of all inforce plan design and employer demographic changes for accounts under 1000 lives for core and voluntary coverages.  
  • Work closely with technology and business stakeholders to establish strategic partnerships while managing, developing and implementing continuous improvement opportunities that serve to improve our customer/broker experience for amendments. 
  • Directs, motivates and develops plan change analysts while maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a high performing team including hiring, performance & compensation management, change management and training & career development. 
  • Oversee and grow vendor partnerships to ensure performance and deliverables meet defined metrics.
  •  Responsible for financial management, including, budget for both people and department/team responsibilities. 
  • Leads and/or provides strategic guidance of/for inforce service support: Is accountable for management of project expectations/results while balancing customer needs with MetLife capabilities and allocates resources as appropriately.
  • Motivates staff with appropriate recognition and feedback; Establishes, encourages, and builds strong business relationships with other appropriate groups both internal and external.
  • Develops tactical plan to support strategic direction of the Plan Change Team (under 1000 lives).
  • Leadership responsibilities include full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development of the plan change analyst
  • Proactively anticipates operational problems and identifies opportunities for improvements to avoid those problems.
  • Proactively maintains expertise on all systems and oversees development of necessary training requirements.
  • Often serves as primary subject matter expert and communicates decisions on internal and large-scale Enterprise projects as assigned for all markets.
  • Achieves metrics that have been established for the department by management for completion of plan/system revisions across all platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant business experience
  • 4-6 years leadership business experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business and its products and services
  • Demonstrated experience with operations management role, including people management, project management, change management executing on key metrics activities
  • Competencies: Focus on customers, manage performance successfully, negotiation skills, relationship building, talent development, change management


Preferred Experience

  • Five plus years of experience in an operations/service delivery role
  • Three plus years’ management experience with direct reports (onsite & virtual)
  • Experience with insurance/financial systems
  • Three plus years working with external market key partners (Brokers, General Agents, Third Party Administrators, Group Employers)
  • Prior work experience with large scale Global Corporation
  • Bachelor’s Degree
