Role Value Proposition: 

The Financial Analyst position will perform a variety of accounting, supervisory and project level functions related to MetLife’s Private Equity & Real Estate Joint Venture Portfolio. These functions include preparation and/or review of all GAAP and STAT accounting and reporting, as well as project work related to system & process enhancements.  The department is a fast-paced work environment with numerous non-routine processes where associates must be quick learners, very organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting job responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • (Daily) Cash monitoring and equity pick up processing and review. Liaison with individual partnerships to reconcile accounting differences. 
  • (Monthly) Prepare GAAP and STAT journal entries, analytical explanations for various changes in net investment income and carrying value, subsidiary accounting transactions, reconciliations from sub ledger to reporting system (HFM) for book value and net investment income and Balance Sheet Certifications.
  • (Quarterly) Prepare consolidations, GAAP & STAT reporting footnote submissions to included AVR, Schedule BA & RBC for Other Invested Assets.
  • Review and post cash transactions, annual GAAP reconciliations against audited property financials.
  • Leading and coordinating system and process enhancements to improve efficiency of accounting and reporting processes.
  • Provide documentation as needed to the Tax department, SOX, external auditors, and internal auditors
  • Handle ad hoc requests as they arise.

 

Essential BUsiness Experience and Technical Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 1 year accounting or finance experience
  • Experience with equity method accounting preferred
  • Experience with working cohesively in a team
  • Effective decision-making skills, sound judgment and ability to work independently
  • Experience with Yardi, PeopleSoft, HFM, Cubus and Cognos preferred
  • Proficiency with advanced features of excel
  • Alteryx experience preferred
  • Strong Communication Skills
