This position is for a Senior Software Development Engineer highly specialized in Oracle database design and development.  The Database designer and developer will have extensive experience designing and developing well-tuned data warehouses and marts for Oracle Business Intelligence 11g and 12c.

In this role, the Database designer/developer will be capable of designing, developing and implementing database constructs that meet the performance expectations of our business customers. 

The candidate will be expected to interface with business users, report developers, Systems Analysts, DBAs and ETL developers to contribute towards well-designed, and well-tuned solutions.  This individual will provide expert level tuning advice and implementation of advanced database and SQL query tactics.

 

The Database designer/developer contributes to software development activities on one or more projects of moderate to high complexity and will be responsible for the successful completion of technical deliverables and software development, overseeing and/or guiding the activities other team members.   

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying and implementing performance tuning opportunities at the database level with enterprise data volumes.
  • Responsible for identifying performance tuning opportunities within the OBIEE metadata layer, Answers, and BiPublisher reporting tools
  • Responsible for detailed technical design and development of applications
  • Collaborate with in-house and offshore IT teams across the enterprise to ensure technical designs and implementations account for requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide technical solutions and perform application troubleshooting under tight deadlines
  • Experience in identifying bottlenecks, and tuning components
  • Perform related duties as assigned or requested and with frequent internal customer interaction. 
  • Share knowledge via design reviews and code reviews

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years OBIEE RPD Development experience
  • 6+ years ETL/Informatica Development experience
  • 6+ years Data Warehousing implementation experience
  • 6+ years SQL Query experience, particularly with Oracle DB
  • 3+ years OBIEE 11g or 12c report development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with OBIEE 12c
  • Experience with Unix Shell Scripting
  • Experience with OACS (Oracle Analytics Cloud)
  • Previous experience in insurance, financial services or management consulting organizations
  • Implementation experience with OBIA HR Analytics and/or Financial Analytics
  • Experience with test-driven development
  • Experience with various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)
