Department: This is an integral leadership role within MetLife’s Investments Technology Organization. Specifically, this role supports the Investments Finance/Accounting organization responsible for the back office functions of a $400B+ General Account Portfolio. This is an exciting time to join the Investments Techonlogy organization, as we collaborate with our business leaders and look to continue to transform our solutions.
The Role: In this role, the selected canddiate will lead product teams dedicated to delivering for our Global Investments Finance/Accounting organizations. The candidate will leverage their experience and knowledge of the investments business, modern technology and organizational leadership. As a leader, you will be responsible for delivering on transformational initiatives including cloud migrations, batch to APIS, Agile/DevOps optimization, test automation, and application modernization, working collaboratively with internal and external constituents. The candidate will work closely with senior leaders, business and technology partners, establishing a portfolio and solution roadmap for the products and ensuring successful delivery through an agile delivery model. In addition, this people leadership role will be responsible building effective teams, driving engagement and developing our talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full people management responsibility for direct product team including performance, career, training & development and engagement
- Partners and Influences business with emerging technology trends and capabilities that align to Product portfolio
- Deep understanding of the business' way of working to solve challenges by leveraging technology.
- Lead teams in the development and maintenance of an E2E IT solution that supports a portfolio of products primarily in Investments Accounting, across multiple asset classes, globally, including the creation and implementation of technology roadmap and management of technical debt
- Partners with Audit, Application Security/Risk and Architecture to plan through potential risks associated with product and/or processes
- Responsible for translating platform vision into work generated by multiple Safe/Agile teams in order to ensure the technology solutions meet the defined goals and vision
- Stays abreast of and keeps a pulse on changes in the industry; Leads and organizes demos of up and coming technologies that can deliver value to the business.
- Lead product software delivery through continuous focus on software development and maintenance metrics and KPIs
- Manage the team budget as needed and also responsible for IT Vendor relationships and contracts.
- Matrix management responsibility for cross functional team members aligned to product team
Key Relationships:
- Reports to: VP Investments Techology
- Direct reports/team: Appoximate span of 30 (inclusive of FTE’s and Contractors)
- Key Stakeholders: Vice Presidents and AVPs in Investments Finance/Accounting
Candidate Qualifications:
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
- Undergraduate degree required with a concentration in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other related field
- 15+ years of Software Engineering experience delivering complex business technology solutions, inclusive of vendor product integration (on premises and SaaS) and in house development
- 10+ years experience providing technology solutons in the financial services industry
- 3+ years experience with Investments/Asset Management, prerable with a focus Investments Accounting / Back Office
- 10+ years managing and developing a strong team, spread across multiple locations; demonstrate change management leader and ability to drive successful results
- Working knowledge of modern Application and Data Architecture
- Strong Working knowledge of the Microsoft Stack (inclusive of .Net, Sql Server)
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise integration technologies and patterns such as APIS, Service Bus, Publish/Subscribe, Event based architectures and orchestration platforms
- Strong exposure to delivering solutions through PaaS Cloud platforms such as Azure
- Experience designing and engineering data solutions; Transactional processing, and Data analytics
Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:
- MIS, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years experience in Investments/Asset Management industry, preferably with a focus on Investments Accounting / Back Office
- Experience working with Investments Accounting technology vendor products (e.g. PAM, Camra etc)
- Experience working in and/or certification in SAFE Agile model
- Hands on Azure cloud experience and/or certification(s)
- Experience with 24x7 Global technology implemenations, inclusive of local country requirements
- Experience delivering complex IT solutions in a large, matrixed environment

The wage range for applicants for this position is 154K-206K. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation.
