Role Value Proposition: 

This position will be responsible for assisting the Retail Life Modeling & Asset and Liability Management (ALM) team with modeling of traditional life products for Embedded Value, Loss Recognition Testing, Cash Flow Testing and ALM/Economic Capital, as well as providing supporting analyses and support with managing Prophet models. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Traditional Life Prophet models and other existing modeling tools to support/maintain functionality, calculations, and logic
  • Supporting all Prophet model work, maintain working knowledge of ALS, maintain and update Prophet models
  • Serve the department as an advisor who can help tackle tougher theoretical and/or technical issues, including but not limited to financial reinsurance, ALS/Prophet coding, dynamic asset/liability interactions, accounting, etc.
  • Review model calculations for reasonableness and accuracy, improving validation and performing enhancements where necessary
  • Work with IT to support Prophet’s functionality in a grid processing environment
  • Perform Cash Flow Testing (CFT), Embedded Value (EV), and Loss Recognition Testing (LRT), and ALM projections
  • Analyze and explain CFT and EV projection results to our team and various external audiences


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • FSA designation or experienced ASA
  • 3+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Access, and VBA
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.



  • Prophet programming experience
  • Extensive life or annuity modeling experience
  • Experience with Alteryx and/or Python
  • Experience modeling and working with life products

The wage range for applicants for this position is $93,000 - $124,000. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
