This is an exciting opportunity to join the MetLife Group Term Life Product team, collaborating on development of new products, and management of our existing term life product portfolio. MetLife is #1 in Group Life market share, with nearly a 3rd of the Group Life market, and double that of our nearest competitor. Our goal is to continue to grow our market share through innovation and execution, and the incumbent in this role will be critical to achieving that goal. This role is responsible for providing functional and technical Life Product support for all markets.  The person in this position must possess a working knowledge of Group Life Products, including term life, accidental death & dismemberment, with a basic understanding of the contractual features and the administrative capabilities necessary to support them. This role also provides an opportunity to engage with third-party vendors who administer additional services for our life insurance participants. Responsibilities also include product maintenance, which includes support and troubleshooting product questions for in-force customers.

For this team to deliver the next generation of benefits, you will be required to extensively partner with Claims, Sales, Service, Contracts, Life Operations, Life Finance, Legal, and more. Working closely with our partners is critical to being successful in the role.



 Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy product innovations and administrative improvements that provide a best-in-class experience for applicants, insured, employers, and beneficiaries.  Understand and coordinate internal infrastructure to support product changes. Develop an understanding of our standard, state-filed portfolio with the ability to clearly communicate how our filings may or may not be flexible enough to provide non-standard customer requests
  • Serve as subject matter expert supporting Center of Excellence, Account Consultants, and Account Executives.  Includes review and analysis of National Account Requests for Proposals, and maintenance of marketing collateral and sales tools.  May be called upon to speak with clients in partnership with account teams, regarding case-specific plan issues, process details, legal/regulatory constraints
  • Help maintain policies and procedures for core Life Products.  Work closely with Life Product Operations, Institutional Contracts, Law, Marketing and Knowledge Management groups to promote adherence to internal process and compliance with external state and federal regulation through clear and consistent communications and oversight


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.  Ability to evaluate costs and benefits and come to decisive, workable solutions. Solutioning is key to this role!


  • Life Claims experience preferred, but not required.


  • To be successful in the role you must be able to multitask multiple unrelated deliverables.


  • Strong written and verbal skills with ability to translate and communicate technical and sometimes complex insurance concepts.


  • Ability to set and re-evaluate priorities based on demands from rival constituents.


  • Strong work ethic. We can teach you on the product.

The wage range for applicants for this position is $85,700 -1$14,300. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
