Job Location: Virtual/remote position with an opportunity for a hybrid office role for candidates within driving proximity of Bridgewater, NJ, Tampa, FL, Irvine, CA, New York, NY offices.


Role Value Proposition: 

You will play a critical role in the success of MetLife’s Dental product by providing key support and analytics around dental network’s financial performance. Leveraging technical, analytical, and business expertise, you will drive decisions around tactical and strategic dental network initiatives (involving provider fee schedules) – and support their implementation.   Drawing on your actuarial or data science background, you will perform a variety of studies to analyze, interpret, illustrate, and explain interrelationships of dental claims data, and determine impacts to product earnings and pricing.  Analysis will include projecting both short- and long-term scenarios, and the expected financial outcomes in those scenarios. With a potential for high visibility in the organization, you have an opportunity to establish your reputation as the finance expert of MetLife’s Dental Network.


Key Responsibilities:

Be an expert on the available dental claim data, utilizing SQL and Python, as well as the modern software (including Alteryx and visualization tools) to perform more complex analyses – both regularly scheduled and ad hoc.  Lead and manage the financial analysis of network projects. Interpret and communicate financial trends. Support Financial Management Group leadership as a key internal consulting resource. Partner with Network Development, Product, Operations, Underwriting, and Sales to provide insights and tools supporting key activities of these teams.


  • Develop and estimate financial impacts of Dental network initiatives. This includes participating in provider fee schedule design, developing assumptions and models to derive the expected financial impact of offering new provider payment schedules/initiatives on both regional and national basis.
  • Dental industry competitive studies, profitability and projection modeling, including statistical modeling.
  • Provide financial and strategic consulting support to partners in Product, Operations, Underwriting, and Sales.
  • Maintain and enhance existing dental network models and provider recruitment tools used by the Network Development team.
  • Update all modeling factors and documentation on a regular basis.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Advanced knowledge of computer systems and financial software and technology. Advanced ability to present complex data concisely and clearly. Extensive knowledge of financial/statistical concepts, principles, and practices. Extensive analytical, consulting, interpersonal, communications, time management, project management skills.



  •    Advanced technical skills and modeling capabilities: Advanced MS Excel and Access, including Visual Basic programming, SQL queries, and familiarity with Python
  •     Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Data mining and presentation skills in Alteryx and visualization tools such as Power BI and Qlik Sense
  • Familiarity with dental or health insurance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Drive to improve status quo tools and processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, or commensurate work experience in insurance or financial environment with large data set analysis/modeling background



  •     Dental insurance expertise, including proficiency in dental claim datasets
  •     Track record of creatively solving problems involving financial elements
  •     Strategic mindset and passion for applying it to recommend next steps in pursuing business objectives
  •     Familiarity with, or desire to learn, optimization algorithms and machine learning methods

The wage range for applicants for this position is $85,700 to $114,300. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
