The Role: Act as a key member of the Management team in guiding and supporting the implementation of strategic IT initiatives to accelerate value in coordination with local general management in Chile Insurance Business and the regional office, in the most efficient and effective manner. This includes: conducting all of the IT strategic analysis in coordination with regional office; ensuring projects and business as usual services, from an IT standpoint are properly implemented and monitored in coordination with IT services like infrastructure, information security, architecture, application maintenance, global application development, other regional application development and global technology services.

 

Chile Insurance is going through an important digital transformation, with high profile IT projects occurring simultaneously across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage relationship with the business, third parties and peers
  • Ensure communication and coordination with IT providers that are critical for the business.
  • Make presentations to the board of directors when required
  • Ensure proper communication with Insurance areas on project execution, IT roadmap, IT service dashboard.
  • Participate in Chile Insurance executive committee
  • To  lead  IT  Systems  teams  according  with  business  and  functional  area’s  needs.
  • Participate in regional and local projects and committees.
  • Lead Project Approval Review Process for IT engagements
  • Participate in Steering Committee on regional projects
  • Active participation and tracking on evergreen technology process.
  • Responsible for generating efficiency plans and maintaining business continuity.
  • To monitor project and service portfolio in order to enhance business operations. Report and track project status and risks.
  • Create local IT Governance Board. Ensure alignment from Technology Roadmap to Chile Insurance, LatAm and global strategy.
  • To assure operational continuity of technology resources providing quality, opportunity and efficiency to the platforms supporting business areas under his/her management.  Lead annual DRP planning.
  • Organize Crisis Management Team with Business and IT resources.  Ensure proper services from local providers in case of Crisis or business disruption.
  • To manage resources, vendors and budget of Functional Systems area according to strategic guidelines of the company
  • Manage Global Technology (GT) resources and supervise other IT resources.
  • Responsible for reaching target savings and competitive health related to market conditions (all metrics are public derived from local regulation).
  • Main driver in digital transformation. Implement appropriately all regionally defined engagement initiatives, providing the right level of customization according to local market needs.
  • Ensure all IT projects in Chile Insurance are implemented and monitored following MetLife project management methodology, providing the required coordination with the LATAM PMO.
  • Ensure the most effective and efficient use of IT resources in Chile Insurance so as to develop a data driven decision making culture.
  • Create and/or join existing forums to disseminate business strategy to other functions in IT
  • Oversee the development and execution of plans in close collaboration with business teams while ensuring alignment of information systems plans with business strategies.
  • Translate business plans into concrete programs for solution delivery, enhancement, and support.

Reports to: SVP Global Technology Latin America (full line) and Chile Insurance Country Manager (dotted line)

 

Direct Reports: 2 GT Manager (GG13M) + 1 Admin + 4 Matrix Report

 

Indirect Reports: 22 employees in Insurance GT + 11 matrix reports + 30 consultants approx. + service providers.

 

 

Other Key Stakeholders:

  • Chile Insurance Executive Committee consisting of the following leaders: Agency Commercial, Employee Benefit Commercial, Direct Marketing Commercial, Annuity Commercial, Mortgage business, Legal, Actuarial, Finance, Product, Marketing, HR, Strategy, Customers and Operations.
  •  Chile Holding leaders consisting of Compliance, Communication, Risks, Government Relations, and Procurement.
  • Other Chile important stakeholders: Latam Investment team, Insurance Superintendence, Chilean insurance association, Internal and External Audits.
  •  Latam IT leaders mainly in Strategy, Architecture, Global Technology Services, Global Infrastructure Services, Application Maintenance, local CIO, Project Managers and Information Security.
  • Other IT important partners working in global IT having initiatives, projects or services provided in Chile Insurance.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

  • Technology Engineer or Computing Civil Engineer or related career. MBA or other advanced degree desirable
  • At least 15 years of experience managing IT organizations in Financial Service business. Seniority of 5 years in executive position.
  • Strong knowledge on Enterprise Software, standards of information security and technology architecture
  • Experience working on a multinational company environment, desired experience in matrix organization.
  • 5 or more years’ applicable experience in managing solutions delivery teams in complex regional environment, large scale, environments including management of sourced services.
  • 5 or more year’s applicable experience in establishing and managing vendor relationships.
  • Expert understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) process.
  • Expert understanding of Consumer and web applications for Financial Services and other LATAM products
  • Hands on technical expertise in the development and/or architecture of systems utilizing current technologies.
  • Proven project management experience in the implementation of complex business applications including the integration of disparate applications.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
