Perform project/program management functions for the technology organization. Projects and Programs managed are of varying complexity in nature, involving coordination of resources (people and technology) across the larger technology organization. Responsible for identification and resolution of project interdependencies, integration and collision concerns across the department and the enterprise. Role requires strong IT and Project/Program Management skills; PMP and/or PgMP and Release Train Engineer (RTE) and/or Agile industry certification such as scrum master or SAFe


Key Responsibilities:

• Leads and executes projects typically medium to large size in duration and complexity using Waterfall and/or Agile methodology

• Leads project status meetings, documents minutes, reports project status

• Creates and tracks project plans

• Manages budgets, backlogs, ceremonies and resolves open issues etc.

• Facilitates the Agile Release Train (ART) and Program/Solution processes and execution

• Escalates, tracks, resolves impediments and dependencies between teams

• Manage risk, help ensure value delivery and help drive relentless improvement

• Participate in Lean-Agile maturity; coaching leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in the mindset

• Help configure scaled agile to the needs of the organization; standardizing and documenting practices

• Facilitate ART ceremonies such as PI Planning, Inspect & Adapt Workshop, System/Solution Demos and Synchronization meetings (ART Sync, PO Council, SoS, etc)

• Foster collaboration between Product and Solution Management, System Architect, Product Owners and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

• Managing and optimizing the flow of value through the ART

• Foster collaboration across the ART

• Tracking and communicating key ART execution metrics such as predictability, responsiveness and quality

• Serve as a coach and mentor for team(s) to share knowledge of SAFe and Lean values, principles, and practices

• Have a Lean-Agile mindset, apply business agility in non-traditional development team(s)

• When leading agile program as Release Train Engineer: The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART) – a team of teams of up to 125 people.


The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the major events and processes within the ART to enable the teams and the ART to deliver customer value. RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement for the ART.  The RTE must have a solid grasp of how to scale Lean and Agile, and understand the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously ensuring alignment. They will be responsible to help configure and adapt Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to the organization’s needs, standardizing and documenting practices for business agility.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

• Written and Verbal Proficiency in English and Portuguese languages

• Ready to work with teams in Brazil

• Detailed knowledge and/or experience with technology concepts and Software Development Life Cycle methodologies (i.e.: Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, SAFe, RTE, scrum etc.)

• Proficient with office automation tools (MS Office suite of applications, email, Internet, etc.)

• Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools

• Experienced with managing offshore teams and/or vendors.

• Excellent communication inclusive of written, verbal and listening; analytical, negotiation, problem-resolution skills.

• Customer Service Orientation and strong teamwork

• Previous experience as Release Train Engineer (RTE) or Scrum Master (SM)

• Previous experience as Project/Program Manager using Waterfall Methodology to deliver IT projects/programs

• Scrum Master (SM), Product Owner (PO) or SAFe Practitioner (SP) or RTE Industry certification

• PMP Certification

• At least 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master facilitating Agile team of up to 10 people

• Experience with Agile toolsets

• 3-5 year experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

• Very strong coaching and communication skills (written and verbal)

• Experience in organizational change management, transformation, implementation, and execution

• Demonstrated understanding and support of Agile delivery model, whether Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean Kanban, or another iterative development approach

• Knowledge of Waterfall delivery and experience operating in a Bi-Modal environment (Agile and Waterfall)

• Business value orientation

• Strong knowledge of Agile metrics and their applications; and PMI best practices
