Summary of responsibilities:

The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and optimization of current and emerging Network Engineering technologies to support MetLife business in over 40+ countries. This role requires expertise in Network Architecture, Network Security, Cloud Infrastructure, DevOps, Automation and knowledge of business applications


List of responsibilities:

  • Plan, Research, develop Branch and or Data Center architecture for MetLife global business; Ensure technical solutions meet the needs of business such as speed, cost, performance, and security; Develop architectures and plan the direction of the platforms towards a 3-5-year technology horizon
  • Develop operational strategies such as End of Life (EOL), applicable hardware/software product roadmaps, and vulnerability management processes
  • Manage 3-5 medium, or 2-3 large network engineering initiatives simultaneously; Liaise with internal technology partners and external vendors to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder involvement
  • Research, design and implement new network technologies and best practices that can be leveraged to decrease costs and increase performance
  • Design and implement infrastructure automation based on best practices
  • Plan and document new deployments and the associated network infrastructure changes, to maintain complete technical documentation
  • Provide 3rd level support to Network Operations team for project delivery and problem escalations
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with an ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Willingness to learn and display self-initiative with a positive attitude


Required expertise:

  • 6-8 years Network Engineering experience; Must have experience designing and deploying Lan, Wan, Wireless, Branch and Data center solutions (ACI), Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto) for large enterprise customers, a solid background in solution consulting is required
  • Knowledgeable on Load Balancers (NetScaler and F5 GTM/LTM) & Software defined Networking
  • Knowledgeable on DevOps as well as Cloud infrastructure with a focus on Azure using industry best practices
  • Programmability aspects of Data Centers components using Python and APIs is required
  • Extensive knowledge in working together with Network infrastructure components like Network, Compute, Storage and Network security
  • Experience in Data Centre and Branch Network Engineering across multiple countries and regions.
  • Operational mindset ensuring new initiatives are transitioned to the operations team effectively, ensuring a stable and performant customer experience.


Preferred experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred, or 8 years of equivalent work experience required
  • Professional certification; such as CCIE or relevant industry certification strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (Spanish language beneficial)
