MetLife is seeking an IT Solution Architect to join its regional team focused on Information, Data Management & Analytics. The Architect is responsible for delivering conceptual and solution designs across the LatAm systems portfolio. The architect will primarily be focused on defining the enterprise information and integration architecture for each project. The candidate will ensure that all solution architectures and new technology acquisitions are delivered through MetLife’s architectural governance review processes and follow established enterprise reference architectures and standards. The architect will also collaborate with business and development partners to deliver future state architectures for the portfolios assigned.

The architect will also be responsible of the setup and execution of required governance activities on the regional integration layer, to ensure the services are used according to the defined strategy.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong business and technology acumen in order to develop sound architecture solutions that will meet and exceed business needs. Effective communications with IT and Business associates at all levels including senior management will be required. This position may require some travel depending on current assignment. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Translates business strategy and objectives into an enterprise information and integration architecture which supports the following capabilities:

     • Data integration

     • Data Modeling

     o  Master data management

     o  Data services and governance

     o  Data management

     o  Data warehouse

     o  Business intelligence

     o  Advanced Analytics

• Responsible for the development, ownership and communication of the following information and integration architecture artifacts:

     o  Target state architecture

           Conceptual and logical enterprise architectures

           Roadmaps

     o  Reference architecture which includes:

           Principles and guidelines

           Patterns

           Standards

     o  Governance model for the data  layer

           Data Model reuse approach

           Capacity planning

           Lifecycle management of the services

• Support delivery of projects

      Define and execute Proof of Concepts

      Review development / code and provide guidance to the development team,

• Supports/guides solution architects by promoting best practices, using reference architectures, ensuring standardization across solution architectures and reflecting the information and integration architecture strategies in their solutions

• As a member of the architecture review board, ensures that solution architectures are aligned with the enterprise information and integration architecture

• Continuously researches and keeps up with latest trends, emerging technologies, new vendor products, new ways of doing things, assessing their applicability to Metlife  and incorporating them into the enterprise information and integration architecture

• Acts as solution architect for data related projects/programs

• Acts as a project leader and provides work guidance to lower level and project staff, and supervises consulting resources

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

• Experience within the insurance industry preferably life insurance and/or annuities

• Experience using and/or extensive knowledge of various application integration technologies such as cloud integration, SaaS integration, API management, service oriented architecture and experprise service bus

• Experience using and/or extensive knowledge of multiple technologies in the areas of data integration, big data/HDFS, data warehousing, master data management, data quality, business intelligence and advanced analytics. Experience with Hortonworks Data Platform preferred.

• Ability to understand and guide development on big data platforms using Java / Python / R

• Proficient at understanding and developing data models, preferably in the financial services industry

• Experience with multiple integration technologies and patterns such as MFT, SOA, REST, ETL, MQ, etc

• Experience with information architecture and multiple database technologies (e.g. RDBMS, NoSQL, HBase, Hive, etc)

• 6+ years of experience architecting solutions

• Ability to think strategically and apply abstract architectural concepts at an enterprise level

• Experience using one or more formal architecture frameworks such as FEAF, TOGAF, or Zachman; certification in any of them is a plus

• Experience working with agile methodologies and knowledge of DevOps

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey architectural concepts to business and technology peers as well as senior management

• Effective influencing and negotiating skills

• Ability to work simultaneously on multiple large, complex projects with minimal supervision

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience, Master’s degree in Computer Science is a plus

• Full / Native English and Spanish proficiency. Basic Portuguese is a plus.
