Position Summary

 

 

Provides 24/7 technical support of the Enterprise Infrastructure and applications across multiple platforms. Proactively assess the overall health of systems, performance, and incident trending reports. This position requires working knowledge of applications running on various platforms, physical and virtual environments, different cloud providers, VMware, Operating systems, Network devices, Storage devices, and Database servers. This position supports critical business activity in a 24/7 Service Operations department. Must understand the ITSM process, operations data, and real-time visibility requirements and how each interacts with the operation of complex production environments. We are looking for an individual that can use critical thinking, collaborate across teams, and have an automation mindset.

 

 

  • Lead the design and implementation of container infrastructure and tools for customers.
  • Will work hands on to maintain, build and deploy existing and future infrastructure.
  • Relentlessly strives to automate and improve the existing and future platforms
  • Performs advanced tests and documents best practices, including plans upgrade and path deployments.
  • Drive and facilitates team design discussions and meetings across LOB’s.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Exhibits the skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results, build healthy and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization.
  • Takes lead role in projects and provides technical expertise for integrating products and technologies. 
  • Leads and participates in incident analysis and provides root cause updates to management.
  • Provides SME knowledge in enterprise wide projects or initiatives. Exhibits automation first mindset.
  • Works with peers in Global Technology to ensure stability and performance of infrastructure
  • Develops on-going relationships and routines with industry partners and vendors regarding thought leadership, industry trends, product directions, and required product enhancements.
  • Has responsibility for operations participation in evaluation of new and existing software products and integrations.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentor team members.
  • Manages service levels provided by the managed service provider. 

                                                                                               

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

 

 

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in supporting distributed applications both on-prem and in cloud (Including Azure, AWS and/or GCP).
  • 7+ years of experience in administering and supporting Docker, Kubernetes, containerization, Linux/AIX technologies
  • 5-6 years of experience in lead role and mentoring team members
  • Ability to design, automate and deploy new Container based Platforms
  • A broad general knowledge of systems, operations, security, network, and storage management processes and their interdependencies and implementations

 

 

 

Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

  • Experience building and managing key components of fully automated tool stack.
    • Version control software (e.g. git)
    • Binary Repositories (e.g. Artifactory)
    • CICD (e.g. Bamboo, UCD, Azure DevOps)
    • Scripting languages (BASH, CRON, PowerShell, Python)
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Apache and other opensource based middleware (Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, NGINX, Node.Js, REDIS).
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Must process problem solving, planning, and analytical skills to drive continuous improvements
  • Flexibility in working hours and handling escalation and pressure situations
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to coordinate cross functionally
  • Good understanding of Site Reliability Engineering principles and exhibits continuous learning mindset.
  • Good knowledge of using GIT / BitBucket / UrbanCode and relative Version Control tools
  • Good working knowledge of “Infra-as-code” toolsets such as Chef or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Observability / Monitoring toolsets such as Grafana, AppDynamics and/or Zenoss.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate technical concepts to a technical and non-technical audience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and built rapport to influence colleagues at all levels, uncover business issues, and identify needs

 

 

Other Requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training – if required)

  • Certification and experience equivalent to below in operating systems.
    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • LPIC-1 Certified Linux Administrator
    • Linux Foundation Certified SysAdmin (LFCS)
    • CompTIA Linux
