Position Summary



This position is responsible for a wide range of functions related to Record to Report and General Accounting. It includes  (i) Providing support to Client Reporting Team (ii) Overall responsibility to meet key metrics including SLA`s (iii) Providing support to client on ad-hoc tasks (iv) Planning and monitoring execution of deliverables (v) Provide active support in conducting Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews.













  1. Month end close call to ensure all month end entries for reinsurance group has been posted.
  2. Perform Accounting and system Reconciliation activities
  3. Run reports in Hyperion and perform basic analysis / comparison to previous months/quarters
  4. Cash Flow, Liquidity reporting
  5. Perform variance analysis & effectively manage research/resolution/follow-ups for closure of open items.
  6. Preparation of footnote.
  7. Assist with monthly financial reporting, such as booking accounting entries, setting up wire transfers in TWS and balance sheet certifications. Ensure overall governance and highlight/escalate potential issue
  8. Cater to STAT and GAAP requirement for reporting and analysis for reinsurance
  9. Document administration and financial reporting workflows and recommend improvements to these processes where appropriate
  10. Prepare internal MIS and analytics relating to reinsurance Inquiries highlighting resource utilization and turnaround time and provide tracking of audits (Reinsurance, D&T, SOX, and State exams).
  11. Perform research relating to queries raised by reinsurers, auditors, etc. and assist with preparing timely responses
  12. Prepare monthly reports summarizing experience under all reinsurance treaties for the current month/ YTD
  13. Prepare CMMI documentation for audit and knowledge about PPM and other internal reporting is required.
  14. Preparation of Management reports for internal review by higher management.
  15. Prepare periodic reinsurance settlements by compiling data from the ledger, direct administration systems, the reinsurance data mart, valuations and various other internal sources
  16. Assist with the analysis of current and historical financial results for reinsurance business; design and prepare reports/studies that will enhance the analysis. Answer issue based queries to Reinsurance Controllers relating to analytics.
  17. Assist with the implementation of new treaties in the ERDR system
  18. Review work performed by Team leaders/ Assistant Manager and find opportunities to improve and simplify process using Lean & Six Sigma.
  19. Finalizing Year-end performance of Associates and team leads rolling under him.
  20. Conduct regular 1-o-1 with his directs and documenting the same.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 15 years of education and 1-2 years of experience.
  • MBA Finance/ M. Com with 5-7 years of experience.



  • Experience in Accounting, reporting and closing.
  • Experience in SEC, SOX & Regulatory reporting.
  • Should have experience in handling end to end month end activities ranging from booking of accrual, processing payments through wire etc.
  • Investigate, resolve and reconcile outstanding balances and items.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a related field is required as Manager. Overall experience of 5-7 years is required in similar industry and related profile



Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

Ensure closure of all month-end activities within stipulated time with 100% accuracy. Understand the complexities involved in treaty settlement and captive reporting and ensure seamless submission of reporting templates to different stakeholders. Should be proficient in Microsoft office tools. Ensure that the assigned targets are met in accordance with SLA and Internal standards. Ensure that the quality of transaction is in compliance with predefined parameters as defined by Process Excellence. Research & Analytical skill is required.


  • Should have Finance Background
  • Prior Experience in Closing & Reporting process
  • Financial Statement Consolidation
  • Exposure to consolidation application / or tier one GL system
  • Should be proficient in Microsoft office tools.
  • Should have knowledge to ensure quality of transactions is in compliance with predefined parameters.
  • Should possess excellent follow-up and coordination capability
  • Ability to gather, manipulate and analyze information and data
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and task prioritization
  • Ability to find creative and innovative business solution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, well organized and flexible with a sense of urgency approach
  • Must be a problem solver and take self-initiative
  • Should possess excellent follow-up and co-ordination ability as process involves daily unstructured and complex interaction with state-side partners and external reinsurers.



Other Requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training – if required)

  • Candidate should be well versed with accounting packages used in industry like Cubus, BI, People Soft, Cadency etc
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles and its application in the process is preferred.
  • LOMA Certified is preferred
