Position Summary




Controls, Analysis and Reporting (CAR) is primarily responsible for ensuring the fair, accurate, and timely reporting of MetLife’s financial results on both a GAAP and statutory basis.  The reinsurance reporting team is a highly specialized team of experienced accountants and analysts with diverse knowledge that also seek out solutions to new reporting requirements and streamlining of existing processes.   In this senior role in the reinsurance team, you will partner closely with business partners in various other CAR reporting teams, as well as other internal teams, in order to provide accurate and timely reinsurance analytics.  Reinsurance analytics will be required on a treaty, legal entity and line of business basis for the income statement and balance sheet for both GAAP and STAT.  This senior role will also ensure the analysis is complete, provides business reason for variances and appropriate controls are in place.  



Job Responsibilities



  • Performs tasks related to monthly variance analysis and ad hoc requests. 
  • Build and run reports in CUBUS and GRDR and create/refresh variance analysis reports to be populated by various teams.
  • Coordination with the lines of business, administrative areas and actuaries in the timely and accurate completion of reinsurance analysis.
  • Prepare and provide documentation as needed to SOX, outside auditors, and internal auditors and handle ad hoc request as they arise. 

Responsible for seeking out process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects and communication with management on progress of such items


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with at least 15 years of education and 5-7 years of experience.
  • MBA Finance/ M.Com with 7-9 years of education.



  • Experience in Accounting, reporting and closing.
  • Experience in Accounting, treaty administration and closing and reporting related activities
  • Should have experience in handling end to end month end activities ranging from booking of accrual, processing payments through wire etc.
  • Investigate, resolve and reconcile outstanding balances and items.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a related field is required as Manager. Overall experience of 5-7 years is required in similar industry and related profile


Knowledge and skills (general and technical)

  • 8 or more yrs. financial reporting and or accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of STAT and GAAP accounting practices/procedures.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently, ability to handle multiple tasks and ability to meet deadlines.

Highly proficient in excel.


Other Requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training – if required)

  • Candidate should be well versed with accounting packages used in industry like Cubus, BI, People Soft, Cadency etc
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles and its application in the process is preferred.
  • LOMA Certified is preferred
