The Role:   MetLife is evolving our approach to talent and organizational development.  The VP, Talent & Organization Development will play the lead role in shaping and integrating key aspects of the talent ecosystem, including succession, leadership development, assessment strategy and tools, career development and mobility, performance development, coaching, and organization effectiveness.

 

This role delivers solutions which are essential to MetLife’s preparedness and ability to deliver on our Purpose.

 

Key Relationships:

This role reports to MetLife’s SVP, Chief Talent Officer and will manage a team of talent/OD practitioners. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead leadership pipeline identification and development; architect and own enterprise approach to talent reviews
  • Build and drive new approaches to strengthen diversity of talent pipeline
  • Deliver and own MetLife’s suite of assessment tools; advance organizational capability to assess talent
  • Build future-focused leadership development programs to accelerate pipeline talent
  • Deliver fit-for-purpose solutions for enhancing culture and organization effectiveness, including support for driving enterprise agility, collaboration and change
  • Stand-up MetLife’s coaching practice; drive enterprise approach to creating a coaching culture
  • Own and continuously adapt our enterprise approaches to performance, career development and mobility
  • Unlock our “talent IQ” to drive focus and outcomes; advance ability to capture and use talent insights at scale
  • Lead and develop an energized, inclusive team of talent/OD practitioners

 

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 12+ years of business and/or human resources experience, with 5+ years of experience in HR business partnering, talent development, learning, assessment, people analytics, or other role that requires similar expertise 
  • Ability to directly partner with and influence senior leadership and actively participate in MetLife’s most senior talent processes, exercising excellent judgment, discretion, and communication abilities
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and act as a trusted advisor
  • Business acumen - ability to understand MetLife’s business and growth levers
  • Organizational effectiveness - ability to build and drive enterprise programs or initiatives
  • People leadership - ability to build strong teams, develop talent, and drive engagement
  • Background in I/O Psych helpful but not required; proven experience and demonstrated future potential trumps any educational requirements for this role
