Role Value Proposition: 

This role sits within the Global Brand & Marketing department and will focus on MetLife’s priority products, including its new financial wellness app, Upwise.  This individual will collaborate with key stakeholders on the product team and within the business to ensure that the growth and engagement marketing efforts are designed and implemented to drive key business OKRs.


The Engagement Strategy team is where journey insights, audience needs, channel and messaging preferences come together to deliver timely, relevant information that enables well informed user decisions.  We are seeking strategic applicants who can help translate data and research into engagement opportunities and experimentation plans that allow us to design effective product and  marketing campaigns as well as create meaningful interactions to meet business OKRs.


A day in the life might include partnering with stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives, participating in audience research, analyzing data and coordinating with other team members in the pod to define customer experiences, campaign ideas, and channel strategies based on user preferences and performance data.  This role will be responsible for translating the engagement opportunities into clear hypotheses that will be used to experiment and measure success.


This individual is:

  • Skilled at fostering engagement with key target audience (consumers)
  • Strategically motivated and able to successfully integrate perspectives and priorities into larger concepts and strategies
  • Analytically driven, understanding the importance of making data-driven hypotheses to drive iterative optimization
  • Experienced in navigating matrixed organizations with many stakeholders.  This individual will collaborate within the pod and may need to engage with business partners and agencies to identify opportunities, coordinate, manage and implement tests
  • Partner with the data analyst to leverage data and insights to feed into strategy/test plan and make recommendations to drive acquisition and engagement growth


Key Responsibilities:

This individual will partner closely with the Growth and Engagement Marketing Product Owner on:

  • Quarterly planning/what can be accomplished in each quarter
  • Engage in a discussion around how the test strategy each quarter will ladder to the OKRs

This individual will play a key role in the quarterly planning sessions by:

  • Helping the PO prioritize the OKRs in that quarter
  • Help refine the guide points

Coming out of the structured ideations, the test lead is responsible for creating the Test Brief:

  • Ensure that team members (working on the test) have clarity around what we are trying to learn and when the tests will be performed
  • This role will flush out the test structure and see it through conception to completion
  • The test lead will be knowledgeable about the various roles/needs, analytics and functionality needed and timelines to get to the final test results.

Campaign development:

  • Serves as the voice of the customer and develop campaigns/programs/initiatives to build and maintain a cohesive customer experience that enables achievement of business outcomes
  • Implements and monitors marketing campaigns and ensure they are aligned with overall department strategy by determining the right audience, the right message, and the right channels
  • Leads creation and optimization of omni-channel journeys by aligning objectives with audience needs
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with various parties across the enterprise including channel strategist, creatives, project managers, analysts, UX strategists, researchers, and agile team leaders
  • Develops audience measures and KPIs; monitors campaign results and optimizes campaigns based on new learnings and insights
  • Synthesizes qualitative and quantitative insights to make decisions/recommendations to continually improve the customer experience
  • Deliverables include journey strategy, journey optimization plans, qualitative research insights around existing journeys, journey maps, strategic campaign plans, audience sentiment, creative brief for journey strategy


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience in developing innovative marketing strategies based on consumer insights, and brand positioning from conceptualization to implementation with measurable in market success
  • Strong analytical ability to evaluate and make actional recommendations based on data
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and navigate a highly matrixed organization
  • Hard working, multi-tasker who enjoys taking ownership of projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to take a consultative approach when working cross-functionally
  • Excellent project management skills and commitment to deadlines, processes, and policies
  • Curiosity and interest in learning about and deeply understanding our customers and target audiences


  • Experience working in a CMS, marketing automation platforms, and social media platforms
  • Experience with freelancer, vendor or agency management
  • Experience within an Agile marketing team or organization

The wage range for applicants for this position is 93,700 to 157,900. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
