Role Value Proposition:

 

MetLife is seeking a current 1L law student to participate in its Law Clerk Program.  The Law Clerk will work with teams based out of MetLife’s New York City office.  We anticipate that the Law Clerk Program will follow MetLife’s hybrid model for 2023, although that may change depending on location and circumstances at that time.  The program will run for ten weeks, starting in late May 2023. The law clerk is expected to work approximately 35- 40 hours per week and will be compensated at a rate of $32.50 per hour.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The attorneys in the New York office focus on a diverse array of legal issues and practice areas include: Insurance, Claims, Commercial, Securities, Marketing and General Corporate Litigation; Employment Law; Group Insurance Law; ERISA Products/Tax; Privacy, Intellectual Property and Technology; Public Company and Corporate Law; Corporate Real Estate and Procurement Operations. The law clerk will perform legal research and writing assignments in support of various law department practice areas and will gain exposure to the responsibilities of in-house counsel. The program will run for ten weeks, starting in late May 2023. The law clerk is expected to work approximately 35- 40 hours per week and will be compensated at a rate of $32.50 per hour.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • Must have completed the first year of law school.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited law school for the Fall 2023 semester.  1L students are encouraged to apply.

 

Preferred:

  • Able to work approximately 35-40 per week
  • Available to work from late May 2023 through early August 2023

The wage range for applicants for this position is $32.50/hour.
