Summary of Responsibilities:

 

The Senior Sales Support Consultant will provide product support for our IIA retirement income strategies. This role will support new offer development and portfolio management efforts and assist in all aspects of the development and implementation of our distribution and marketing strategies.  The Senior Sales Support Consultant will develop a strong customer and market intimacy by staying in close contact with customer needs, market trends, competitive activities, customer experience and the changing political, economic, legislative, technological and demographic landscape.

 

In this role, the Senior Sales Support Consultant will be responsible for supporting Sales, Marketing and Client Relations to determine and implement the product strategy by channel. The Senior Sales Support Consultant will clearly position and articulate IIA’s market and distribution strategy, and our position in the market. The Senior Sales Support Consultant will conduct analyses to uncover customer needs, market trends, competitive activities and customer experience requirements.  The Senior Sales Support Consultant will participate in the financial analysis preparation as it relates to distribution and marketing costs, helping to build assumptions to model and drive components of the execution phase. The Senior Sales Support Consultant will provide product and technical support to Marketing to create effective materials to drive sales. They will also develop metrics and tracking mechanisms to monitor product needs such as operational enhancements, communication updates, second sale strategy and overall sales results.

 

The Senior Sales Support Consultant will also review our current retirement income/annuity products to understand performance against internal expectations (the plan), against customer expectations (through research) and against competitor offers.  The Senior Sales Support Consultant will make product recommendations as to how to improve both first and second sales, customer satisfaction and competitive position.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

Determine customer needs and market trends through research and marketplace scans; identify competitive strengths and weaknesses.  Evaluate current offers against these customer, market and competitive findings and make recommendations about product changes, pricing, positioning and packaging.  Develop market plan that captures these trends and the specific strategies and tactics to grow the market and MetLife’s share.

 

Provide metrics and statistical information on current clients including quoting, purchasing, web usage, participant demographics, plan demographics, and book of business data. Provide and aggregate data from multiple sources for developing business strategies and to help identify opportunities in the sales process.

 

Review current retirement income annuity products and track key metrics driving growth.  Report results and make recommendations to improve volume, revenue, profit, customer satisfaction or competitive position. Identify new product ideas to drive market share growth and to develop emerging markets which include plan distributed immediate annuities, Qualified Longevity Annuity Contracts (QLAC), Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA) and Lotteries.

 

Support sales efforts with both Sales Directors and Client Executives.  Provide marketing with product and market support for the creation and maintenance of marketing collateral. Regularly obtain feedback to enhance sales materials, prospect targeting, training, call center scripting or to improve the offer.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Preferred:

  • 5+ years in marketing and sales support experience, product management or new product development.
  • Knowledge of annuity products and financial drivers of annuity products.
  • Knowledge of the retirement industry and market dynamics
  • Strategic and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and presentation)
