Role Value Proposition: 

The Global Financial Crimes Unit (GFCU) is responsible for the effective implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of global compliance programs for MetLife businesses relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Economic & Trade Sanctions and Anti-Corruption (AB&C) compliance risks. This individual contributor position is responsible for carrying out global obligations with respect to the function of the GFCU and relevant company policies and compliance with applicable international and local laws/regulations with anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption. The role entails supporting compliance teams globally with anti-money laundering, sanctions, and anti-bribery & corruption risk mitigation, remediation and management efforts.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Support the unit’s anti-money laundering, sanctions and anti-bribery & corruption compliance programs inclusive of surveillance, monitoring, risk assessment and training responsibilities; manage centralized data management and escalations related to alerts and bulk updates and provide resolution as necessary
  • Provide comprehensive and quality led advise to Local Compliance and Business teams for escalations made to the GFCU involving global policy reviews relative to AML, Sanctions and AB&C compliance (e.g. escalation reviews involving gifts, entertainment, travel and lodging).
  • Draft, maintain and continuously improve global policies and procedures needed to fully support AML, Sanctions and AB&C compliance
  • Conduct substantive testing of regional operations to ensure compliance with global requirements, including thorough review of local compliance programs and preparing comprehensive reports on findings
  • Update the global risk assessments for AML, Sanctions and AB&C compliance, create, communicate and track ongoing action plans per assigned region including routine reporting on action plan status; and assist global operations with regulatory and internal audit exam inquiries



Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in AML, Sanctions and AB&C Compliance
  • Strong project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines Interest in managing others and the desire to motivate team members, internal and external constituencies, to a very high level of performance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize and digest content quickly and clearly
  • Detailed oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and resolve issues
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively across Compliance and other business lines and enterprise function
  •  Strong AML/Sanctions systems experience implementing and supporting vendor based solution (Actimize, Oracle Mantas, Fiserv)  including Sanctions Screening systems) including defining the scope of AML monitoring rules and thresholds, developing business impact and functional analysis, data model validate and workflow analysis. Participate in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality. Develop requirements, review and validate data and process flows for AML and Sanctions alert screening rules in partnership with regional compliance and IT teams. Conduct change impact analysis to assess the potential implications of changes to the AML monitoring strategy for the global operations.
  •  3+ years’ experience with FCPA, UK Bribery Act and similar laws and regulations globally. Proven experience in a ABAC advisory role focused on Finance and Expense Controls (Gifts, Entertainment & Travel) Hiring Practices, Charitable Contributions, Marketing and Third Party Risk Management.
  •  Proven experience with performing global AML and ABC risk assessments, gap analysis and monitoring and testing reviews.
  • Strong project management, communication and writing skills (a absolute must.
  • Ability to build rapport with key risk partners and interface with the business and functions in order to facilitate the successful implementation of the Enterprise AML/ABC programs.
