Role Value Proposition:      

Assess the conceptual and theoretical soundness of each model based on mathematical, actuarial and finance theories and evaluate the appropriateness of assumptions, data sources and reliability of inputs to build independent challenger models. Test model output through back testing, sensitivity analysis, stress testing or other analysis as applicable. Assist in writing and reviewing validation reports illustrating the relevant results of theoretical review and testing, calling attention to areas of concern and uncertainty. Monitor findings, recommendations and management action plans resulting from validation reports to ensure actions taken appropriately to address concerns. Review and challenge annual model risk assessments. Prepare metrics reporting.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Investment and Securities or Investment Management (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of actuarial experience working in the insurance industry. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) -- must possess the following: maintaining, updating and running actuarial models to evaluate the appropriateness of assumptions, data sources and reliability of inputs; performing, processing and analyzing model result using programming languages; and reading and modifying codes in VBA analytical tool. Must hold ASA or FSA designation.
