Role Value Proposition: 

The Senior Actuary role sits within MetLife’s Global Risk Management group, on the Insurance Product Risk Management and US Risk Staff team.  The role is focused on providing Risk oversight to MetLife’s US Retirement & Income Solution (RIS) business unit and savings products globally.  In the US, the role will partner with first line staff to develop MetLife products and value propositions within the Pension Risk Transfer, Income Annuities, Stable Value, COLI/BOLI, Structured Settlements and GIC markets. Globally, the role will partner with local Risk to provide oversight over Variable Annuity, SPIA, FIA, and Variable Universal Life products. 


The role will focus on all aspects of the product and pricing process, with a particular focus on leveraging data and analytics to optimize the pricing framework.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates as the highest-level actuarial consultant by leading the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
  • Monitors level of trend of profit and profitability by line of business and/or product.
  • Has no formal supervisory responsibility, but may assist in the training of other actuarial staff.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • A degree in mathematics or statistics, with more than 8 years of experience in the related area.
  • Experience working with data and analytics.
  • Familiar with wide range of insurance products.
  • Expertise in Statutory, tax, GAAP, and economic modelling.
  • Expert in mathematical and statistical modeling, and in data interpretation.
  • Must be recognized as the leading consultant of the group.
  • Competency: Demonstrates technical & functional expertise; Sound business judgment.
