Role Value Proposition: 

The Economic Capital (EC) team within Global Risk Management is responsible for all aspects of enterprise EC, including production, reporting, analysis, methodology, and projections.  EC is a key risk metric that is an input for decisions around ALM, hedging, capital allocation, pricing, and product strategy.  The EC team supports our global businesses that are subject to similar regulatory requirements on a local basis (e.g. Solvency II – Europe and Mexico, Japan EC local).


This position, which reports to the SVP of EC and Stress Testing, will be responsible for all aspects of analysis of EC results, as well as certain EC framework experience updates.  This includes clearly communicating results to senior management (both written and oral).


Key Responsibilities:

  • EC analysis – includes detailed analysis of country results, risk type, and explanation of variances.
  • EC assumption and experience updates as necessary (e.g. diversification – correlation matrix, liability discount rate).
  • Support EC Production team in attribution analysis.
  • Explain quarterly EC results to Head of EC, and other senior management globally.
  • Lead special projects including ongoing policyholder behavior risk analysis.
  • Support certain countries with impact analysis of potential statutory capital regimes (e.g. Japan, Korea, Chile).


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science. 
  • FSA or equivalent.
  • 5+ yrs. relevant experience in the actuarial field. 
  • Working knowledge of accounting concepts – GAAP, Statutory, and Economic.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, operate with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective action.
  • Ability to develop strong business relationships, partner and coordinate in a cross-functional environment.
