Role Value Proposition: 

This position is primarily responsible for compliant filing of contracts and related forms with state insurance departments and required periodic reporting in support of the Pension Risk Transfer Contract team within the Retirement & Income Solutions (“RIS”) organization. RIS, in MetLife’s U.S. Business division, delivers retirement and benefit funding solutions in specialized markets. 


RIS is a leading provider of stable value products, structured settlements, annuities for employer plans, and life insurance funding products.  The RIS Contracts organization works closely with legal and the product and sales teams to develop and file contracts for existing product sales as well as the contracts required for new product introductions. 


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Prepare regulatory submissions for Pension Risk Transfer products and assist on other submissions within RIS via the SERFF and I-File filing systems
  • Respond to insurance regulators on questions related to contractual and other related filings
  • Maintain the recordkeeping for filings and insurance department correspondence, including managing the files and updating appropriate databases and systems
  • Maintain knowledge base of company policies and state rules and regulations impacting contracts
  • Assist with development of contracts and other related forms and documents to support new and existing products.  The forms and documents include contracts, amendments, offer letters and other regulatory submissions
  • Prepare and disseminate filing status reports to all stakeholders
  • Partner with team members and internal business partners including legal, pricing, and product to identify product specifications and contract requirements
  • Provide assistance on key compliance and product development projects on an as needed basis
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required    


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and research skills
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Outcome-focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact and work collaboratively and constructively with various people at various levels within RIS and with regulators at state departments of insurance
  • Highly focused on timeliness and meeting deadlines



  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with Sharepoint or OneDrive is a plus
  • 1-2 years of SERFF and I-File submission experience for group contract forms
  • 2-3 years of experience in the group insurance industry, preferably involving contract drafting, filing, or within compliance aspects of this business
