Product Owner - Upwise

The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for owning and executing on key components of the Product Development process.  This includes researching competitive features, creating user stories, writing acceptance criteria and coordinating activities across the development squads.  This includes developing detailed work plans, running product meetings, communicating updates to stakeholders and assisting with any training upon completion, as needed.  Responsibilities include developing strong relationships with key partners across the Upwise leadership team and beyond, including Design/ Engineering, Marketing, Legal/Compliance, DevOps teams, other BAs, other program management resources, business intelligence resources, etc. 


In addition, the Product Owner will be accountable for driving key deliverables within the sprints, including coordination of user testing, design and development milestones to ensure deliverables are met across Upwise. 


The position requirements for this role include the following:

  • Strong analytical, complex problem solving, decision-making and strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication – both verbal and written
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work as an effective partner with various management levels and across functional areas
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred


The key responsibilities for this role include the following:

  • Working directly with Product Managers to develop and monitor key user metrics. 
  • Responsible for working closely with the onshore and offshore development teams
  • Assist in coordination of all squad activities and ceremonies including spring planning, grooming, demos, reviews and stand-ups
  • Working within the agile processes, development of user stories and detailed acceptance criteria
  • Provides support to Product leadership creating future release strategies, roadmap planning
  • Consults with key internal partners across Content, Partnerships, Legal, etc. to develop best in class features and functionality across the Upwise user experience. 
  • Partners with other areas across FW&E organization and key partners to build strong working relationships and improve workflow and maximize efficiencies – including GTO, Upwise DevOps, Legal and Compliance teams

Preferred Location:  Cary, NC or NYC.  Qualified candiates in the US Region will be reviewed.

The wage range for this position specific to Connecticut and Colorado is $107k - $134k/year.  You may be also eligible for the MetLife Annual Variable Incentive Plan ("AVIP").  Your eligibility for an AVIP award is governed by the terms of the applicable plan or program documents.
