Role Value Proposition: 

The Manager, Marketing Data Science – US will play a role in helping the business continue to evolve and execute against its strategic vision based on a comprehensive understanding of employee, employer, broker, and marketplace dynamics.  This manager will be responsible for co-developing analytics plans with the Director, Marketing Data Science to deliver against critical business objectives and to identify business goals and develop strategies for translating those into measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).


This manager will also be responsible for developing key actionable insights that are relevant to marketing and influencing the strategy of the US MetLife Property & Casualty (P&C) Organization. The manager will investigate customer behavior, attribute revenue, assess business impact and socialize the findings for the betterment of the organization. This role will be a key member of the US Marketing Science team, the US Marketing and the P&C organizations.


Key Responsibilities:    

  • Support US Marketing in establishing best-in-class data management, analytics planning, implementation, reporting and insights across marketing initiatives including:  acquisition, cross-sell, retention, loss ratio and cost savings
  • Develop measurement and activation plans that play a key role in enhancing MetLife’s customer experience and performance of online and offline marketing programs.
  • Lead marketing effectiveness measurement and attribution for priority lines of businesses and pilot programs.
  • Provide easy-to-understand marketing insights and consultation that translate into practical, actionable recommendations for B2B marketing across multiple channels:
    • TV
    • Digital – search, display & social
    • Email – acquisition & CRM
    • Direct mail
    • Inbound & outbound phone
  • Lead test and learn pilot measurement planning. Perform deep dive analyses and  lead testing implementation
  • Lead actionable use of customer segmentation to deliver deep insights on our customers across industries.
  • Build dashboards that automate aggregation of multiple data sources, visually communicate and facilitate marketing decisions
  • Create and grow trusted cross-functional relationships with marketing partners, business partners, IT partners, research and analytics vendors and media/consulting agencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in data analytics, monitoring business performance results and creating recommendations to make key business decisions
  • Demonstrated ability in understanding business issues/models & translating them into metrics & analysis plans. Able to triangulate disparate data & turning them into business recommendations & actions
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a way that is easily understood
  • Ability to assess and understand key structured and unstructured data sources
  • Statistical analysis - understand and work around possible limitations in models
  • Build complex data sets from multiple data sources
  • Build/Code/Analyze Appropriate Data in order to drive to actionable and clear business recommendations
  • Leverage data science tools/techniques to analyze large data sets & develop custom models/algorithms to uncover trends, patterns & insights in the data
  • Drive integration of data with traditional insights, to develop more holistic and complete recommendations
  • Leverage data visualization tools & techniques to deliver insights that drive business recommendations, innovative business solutions and enable real-time marketing and optimization
  • Adept/expertise in Market Mix Modelling, Multi-touch attribution, Segmentation, Regression, Conjoint analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and intermediate MS Access abilities
  • Adept in Tableau, Domo, Qlik Sense or other BI data aggregation and visualization software
  • Competency in digital standard reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe & DoubleClick
  • Familiarity with data platforms (SAS & R) and digital languages (HTML, JavaScript)
  • Sense of urgency & established track record of managing and prioritizing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal & relationship building skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment. Able to identify needs, develop a plan of action and implement.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Self-starter who can think creatively and look for/develop elegant & viable solves for real world problems
  • Ability to travel to/between NYC and NJ ~20%  of the time


  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative and/or business field is strongly preferred
  • Basic knowledge of marketing principles, market research/strategic Insights experience a plus
  • Experience in Insurance, Financial Services  a plus
  • Experience in applying analytics and attribution in B2B industries a plus
  • Experience in predictive modeling and forecasting a plus
  • Adobe Analytics; web analytics certified
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, VBA/VBS, or similar)
  • Intermediate SQL knowledge i.e. comfortable with complex table joins, aggregates, derived measures/formulas in code
  • Understanding of data onboarding process and platforms (e.g. LiveRamp, Neustar) and online to phone tracking (e.g. DialogTech, Invoca, Marchex)
  • Data Visualization: creative in displaying information visually and making the patterns they find clear and compelling to business partners a plus
  • Natural Language Processing: the interactions between computers and humans a plus
  • Machine learning: using computers to improve as well as develop algorithms a plus
