The Executive Writer and Storyteller is a new role. You’ll help communicate on enterprise-wide initiatives and internal-communication priorities for the Office of the CEO.

 

Can you create compelling content for the senior-most executives of a company – in this case, priority CEO messages to nearly 50,000 employees? If so, we want you.

 

Here’s one key responsibility: Support live CEO broadcasts to leaders and employees. Search for stories across the company, pitch the CEO, script the segments, and prep the employees who will participate.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Story research reporting and pitching for frequent CEO broadcasts
  • Creative support and content development for MetLife’s Next Horizon strategy including ongoing engagement campaigns and employee learning sessions
  • Creative support and content development for global engagement programs such as “Volunteering with Purpose”
  • Speeches, talking points, briefing documents and other internal communication support for the CEO

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

 

Required:

  • This individual must be able to use communication as a strategic lever for the company’s business agenda. He/she must know the business and be able to seek out the right kinds of stories and messages to align with priority messaging.
  • This individual must be able to craft multiple story options into compelling pitches for review.
  • Attention to detail, strategic thinking and an understanding of what makes a good MetLife story is critical for success. He/she must be able to bring to life strategic initiatives and business priorities through the voice of our people in a way that comes across as relatable and inspiring.
  • The Executive Writer and Storyteller must bring his/her “A game” to everything they do and be able to work in an agile fashion to develop content.
  • Experience writing copy for video, television, podcast or another broadcast medium
  • Experience writing for senior executives or other business leaders 
  • Quick study – able to learn and channel an executive’s ‘voice’ and adapt to changing nature of the business.
  • Ability to understand business priorities to elicit compelling stories that serve as proof points of progress
  • Able to write for a global audience in ways that are relatable, engaging and inspiring


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, English, Business, or Public Relations as well as any other related field of expertise. 
  • 6+ years of Corporate Communications, Journalism, or PR / Ad agency experience
