Lead Actuarial Consultant, PRT New Business

This position is a key member of the Pension Product/Sales team working across US Pensions teams coordinating several important initiatives. Key strategic initiatives include analyzing key PRT opportunities that will allow MetLife to pursue continued growth and innovation in the pensions business. This position has significant senior management exposure during the governance and approval process for larger PRT cases or for PRT cases with new product features (e.g. buy-ins or deferreds). This role will have 2-4 direct reports.


Key Responsibilities:  


  • Develop pricing sensitivities and ad-hoc scenario analyses required for governance and approval of large or unusual PRT cases, including preparation of presentations for senior leaders and executive group.
  • Act as liaison to internal and external business partners related to PRT and broader RIS strategic initiatives. Prepare presentations regarding PRT strategic initiatives for senior leaders and executive board.
  • Proactively research institutional retirement markets, understand competitive set, identify new opportunities, and report findings to PRT business leaders.
  • Perform analytics and financial modelling related to strategic initiatives for pensions business (e.g. new product features such as buy-ins or deferreds.
  • Provide project management and support for ad hoc strategic projects and the roll-out of key initiatives and report status to US Pensions business leaders.
  • Manage the lump sum escheatment model ensuring accuracy and documenting processes and changes, as needed.
  • Act as the US Pensions liaison with other organizations within MetLife that impact strategic initiatives such as Corporate Strategy, Finance, Legal and Marketing.
  • Oversee a team responsible for the management of legacy group annuity contracts


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • Flexible and forward thinking
  • Thorough understanding of annuity products and strong quantitative and financial skills
  • Experience in life and annuity reinsurance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in written form across all levels of the company
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.




  • MBA in Finance or Actuarial FSA is preferred
  • Project Management Skills
  • Prior client management experience preferred
  • Prior management experience preferred
