Role Value Proposition: 

The Director of Governance supports the VP of the LatAm Transformation and Innovation Office and LatAm Senior Leadership Team to facilitate governance, business activities, communication, working relationships, decision-making and execution of BAU. 

 

The position acts as a liaison to functional partners and country teams throughout the region to drive LatAm governance mechanisms that align with and support the regional operating model, priorities and business plan execution. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Chief of Staff Support

  • Support VP of the LatAm Transformation and Innovation Office and represent LatAm CEO office within the region and to broader MetLife organization as needed. Acts as a point of contact with top management and other stakeholders. Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making.
  • Business reviews, Planning, Quarterly Earnings – in coordination with finance and the program management team support the development of meetings and materials in order to ensure the LatAm CEO Office has timely and accurate information on financial and business results.
  • Support country teams on preparation of executive documents – presentations and memos - to ensure content is clear, concise, and well communicated for the target executive audience.
  • Handles inquiries and develops action plans to address them, and assists with the preparation and dissemination of communications.
  • Review internal and external communications: organization announcements, reports, pitch decks, speeches or presentations for the CEO.
  • Manage LatAm CEO travel, regional meetings & events and oversee daily operations through collaboration with senior management and department leaders.
  • Support creation and execution of agenda for Regional President, Office of CEO and other EG members’ travel to LatAm.

 

Governance

  • Regional Governance – determine regional and functional meetings required to drive business objectives.  Support CoS in planning and execution of regional leadership (FLT & ELT) meetings.  Execute meeting planning – cadence, attendees, scope and agendas.
  • Compliance & Risk – partner with compliance, audit and risk to ensure risk management priorities are being communicated, escalated and resolved.  Partner with countries and corporate center to drive awareness and completion of mandatory training. Provide oversight and ownership of Regional Delegations of Authority (DoAs) and, in partnership with Tax, Finance and Functions, the annual Transfer Pricing budget.
  • Support Executive Group (EG) presentations and Investor Relations presentations.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • At least 5-8 years of experience working in commercial management roles in insurance and/or financial services companies.
  • Experience working at complex multinational matrix-type organizations.
  • Strong business acumen (insurance business).
  • Strong knowledge of analytics tools and techniques.
  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.
  • Extremely versatile and able to work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Project management and metrics development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – must be able to communicate effectively both internally, with a functionally and geographically diverse team, and externally with customers.
  • Flexible and adaptable and able to develop creative solutions.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor´s Degree in Business from an accredited university with postgraduate studies.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish desirable.
