Role Value Proposition: 

Global Strategy is charged with advancing the development and evaluation of MetLife's corporate strategies. The group will advise the Executive Group, MetLife’s top executive officers, on matters of corporate strategy and will function as an in-house strategic consulting group, responsible for assisting MetLife in creating, communicating and sustaining its strategy.  Global Strategy will work closely with the business unit strategy leaders globally to ensure consistency and alignment between our corporate and business strategies.   Global Strategy is responsible for the enterprise-wide competitive intelligence program, the identification and development of strategic growth initiatives, and it plays a key role in the overall financial planning and investment allocation process.

    

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Work independently to partner with global business leaders, regional management and local teams to scope, define and coordinate initiatives in support of business strategy.
  • Lead cross functional teams on high visibility complex projects from ideation through execution, which require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration.
  • Develop and refine performance measures and internal/external benchmarks to develop an information framework to support business outcomes. 
  • Create communications related to strategic business plans and initiatives.
  • Leverage research using a variety of tools to package competitor information, customer data and industry trends that shape the global insurance and financial services marketplace. 
  • Collect key metrics from various sources and use management analysis tools, to complete complex analyses such as cost projections, feasibility studies, benchmark comparisons, and other reports. Develop a perspective and create recommendations for senior management review.
  • Develop complex financial and investment models and participates in preparing ROI analysis as necessary for senior management.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Experience at a top tier consulting firm or in a strategic planning function at a Fortune 500 firm.
  • Prior experience in projects that require detailed execution. Strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must possess business maturity, strong presence, and advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to engage across multiple functions and business units.
  • Ability to manage consensus at various levels and cultivate strategic internal relationships across a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate without formal direct authority, consultative in approach; diplomatic.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to tailor them to executive audiences.
  • Flexibility to accommodate working across global time zones.

 

Preferred:

  • Prior insurance or retail financial services experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Foreign language skills a positive.
  • Degree in Finance, Business, Econ required; MBA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
