Role Value Proposition: 

MetLife’s Operational Risk Management (“ORM”) function within Global Risk Management is responsible for the design and implementation of company-wide policies, frameworks and tools enabling appropriate management of non-financial risks throughout the organization.  ORM partners closely with various stakeholders across the enterprise to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a strong risk culture.

 

The Corporate Functions ORM team supports the priorities of MetLife’s Corporate Functions by partnering with senior management to ensure that informed business decisions are made related to non-financial risk.  This role will provide critical support working with corporate function leaders, Regional Risk Management and Compliance in implementing and maintaining an effective non-financial risk framework in accordance with enterprise standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide ORM coverage of corporate function partners, providing support as a strategic advisor
  • Ensure effective implementation of risk identification and assessment processes
  • Conduct deep dive assessments / gap analysis and document findings
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional strategic projects
  • Assist in resolving risk issues; advise on risk mitigation strategies and oversee remediation of material issues
  • Partner with control organizations to evaluate existing control frameworks for alignment
  • Collaborate with the business and control organizations to develop appropriate non-financial risk metrics

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of financial services experience; experience working in Risk / Compliance / Audit preferred
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, willing to challenge others and operate with a sense of urgency
  • Strong knowledge of risk management best practices and emerging industry developments
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment
  • Prior experience managing complex large-scale global projects; strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities to deliver results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and conduct presentations and communicate with senior and executive management
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop partnerships and relationships in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
