Role Value Proposition: The Assistant Vice President of Strategy and Transformation is a global role with significant exposure responsible for accelerating global business performance by driving operational improvements across MetLife with a focus on Digital, technology, operations and customer service.  This position will be responsible for supporting the VP of Strategy and Transformation in managing and delivering internal consulting projects focused on solving complex problems and delivering measurable value.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal and [occasionally] external partners to address critical issues, develop creative solutions, and deliver measurable value. 
  • Leverage fact-based analysis, data-driven recommendations, disciplined prioritization, and holistic execution.  In order to achieve success that endures the team must also work to ensure that the partner organization is prepared and aligned to deliver against those recommendations in the most efficient and effective way possible.
  • Work with groups across every area of Global Technology & Operations (GTO), including Customer Solutions, Technology, Digital Transformation and Data Analytics. 
  • Involved in a variety of cross-functional projects including Cost Optimization, the development of Operating Models, Change Management, Process Improvement, and Business Case Analysis. 
  • Team will leverage world class consulting methodologies including best practice models, quantitative analysis, data-driven decision-making, the deployment of focused 1-3 person engagement teams, functional expertise, industry knowledge, and relatively short project timeframes of 2-6 months.
  • Ability to travel 25-30%


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

We are seeking consulting professionals who can lead highly visible, strategic projects and quickly deliver measurable value to internal partners.  Team members will have a variety of backgrounds, including top tier management consulting and top educational institutions. 


  • 10+ years of experience, preferably at top tier management consulting firms
  • MBA or other relevant Master’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in global, strategy and change management roles with progressive responsibility across a range of industries
  • Demonstrated experience managing strategy, change, process improvement and transformation in a global organization, covering multiple geographies, language groups, and operating models
  • Demonstrated experience planning and overseeing cross functional organizations in a global matrix operations environment
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing key performance metrics and understanding their respective impact to strategy
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing alliance management and communications strategies across a diverse stakeholder base including executing on engagement programs and events
  • Ability to champion change, inspire a shared vision and promote key values including driving with a sense of accountability and urgency
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills – including relationship building, collaboration and influencing – across a broad range of levels in the organization
  • Superior skills in PowerPoint and delivering compelling presentations
  • Strong analytical, financial, quantitative and written skills
  • Expert in building, developing and motivating high performance teams
  • Strong background in digital, data analytics, and emerging technology

  • Reports to: VP, Strategy and Transformation
  • Direct reports/team: 2-4 directs/10-30 total team
  • Key Stakeholders: GTO Leadership (e.g., Technology, Operations, Digital/Data, Customer Solutions), Leadership across the global Business Units (US, EMEA, Latin America, Asia Pacific), other relevant Corporate Function leaders (e.g., Strategy, Marketing, Finance, etc.)
