The Role:

The role sits within MetLife’s Global Risk Management group, on the Insurance Product Risk Management and US Risk Staff team.  The role is focused on providing Risk oversight to MetLife’s US Retirement & Income Solutions (“RIS”) business unit and savings products globally.  In the US, the role will partner with first line staff to develop MetLife products and value propositions within the Pension Risk Transfer, Income Annuities, Stable Value, COLI/BOLI, Structured Settlements and GIC markets. Globally, the role will partner with local Risk to provide oversight over Variable Annuity, SPIA, FIA, and Variable Universal Life products. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with RIS business on product development for new products:  Review product specifications and pricing models to assure risks are appropriately quantified, managed, and priced for
  • Risk oversight over assumption setting for RIS including: investment, mortality, behavior & expense assumptions and stat, capital, tax, & GAAP modeling
  • Provide case approval for large RIS transactions such as PRT, COLI/BOLI
  • Participate in ongoing risk management of RIS inforce portfolio including oversight over operational risk and ALM risk management
  • Partner with first-line RIS business to optimize investment strategy and capital footprint
  • Corporate Risk oversight over savings product globally: partner with local Risk to review new product designs and repricing of all products.  Assure risks are appropriately modelled, managed, and priced for

Candidate Qualifications:

Incumbent should have strong product, technical and general business skills with ability to manage a large number of diverse projects simultaneously. 

 

  • 10+ years of experience within insurance company or consulting
  • Project Management experience and track record of getting collaborative projects through to completion
  • Excellent organizational, mathematical, and analytical abilities
  • Excels at building partnerships and fostering teamwork
  • Knowledge of a broad range of product types internationally a plus
