Role Value Proposition: 

The Director of Real Estate and Corporate Services Governance drives the overall governance of key areas of Real Estate & Corporate Services (RE&CS). This person is responsible for implementation of policies, processes, platforms, reporting and metrics that are critical to success of the RE&CS operating model. The role must support engagement of the RE&CS functions and regions through continuous outreach and integration in order to ensure alignment and adoption of programs within the operating model.   


Key Responsibilities:  (Limit 5 bullets)

This role can be categorized into the following two primary areas of responsibility:


  • RE&CS Governance - Responsibilities
    • Implement governance for key areas (project approvals, communications, reporting, metrics, etc.), by obtaining alignment with RE&CS functions and regions on responsibilities and requirements and serving as a point of integration between the central RE&CS team and regional RE&CS leaders 
    • Support regional RE&CS leaders in communicating RE&CS governance requirements to service providers and driving adoption of new governance components and requirements
    • Provide training to new RE&CS employees and service provider employees on key areas of governance
    • Track adherence to RE&CS governance requirements and report on performance to RE&CS leadership
    • Engage in ongoing dialogue and support key stakeholders including the RE&CS functions and regions to manage ongoing reporting, timelines, schedules, status tracking, etc. by coordinating the data points, details, status updates on projects and deliverables.
    • Govern all functional-specific RE&CS deliverables and Service Provider deliverables to Head of RE&CS as well as to the MetLife Enterprise.
  • Communications
    • Responsible for developing and implementing RE&CS communications plan, including rewards/reinforcement, to ensure successful rollout of programs across the RE&CS organization and beyond
    • Govern all functional-specific RE&CS communications and approvals required by Head of RE&CS and Corporate Communications
    • Accountable for any presentations / materials that Head of RE&CS needs to develop (e.g. Town Hall decks, etc.)


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Minimum of 8 years corporate environment experience where coordination, collaboration and communication across multiple organizations is required for alignment, approvals, decision-making, and governance
  • Expert influence skills to manage enterprise stakeholders, business partners, and teams of diverse composition (e.g. varying skill sets; in-house and outsourced; across locations and regions) who are not direct reports
  • Proven vision, leadership, and strategic thinking skills through each stage of program execution. Ability to lead evolving initiatives from start to finish in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, ability to quickly synthesize complex and diverse data, and applying sound business judgment by creating rational and effective strategies that increase shareholder value
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and solid negotiation skills, including the ability to foster organizational change through program execution and act as a change agent
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation



  • Corporate real estate experience (not investments) that includes exposure to multiple corporate real estate disciplines, finance, and other general business management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously and providing effective support to all functions and individuals within the corporate structure
  • Must be self-motivated, ambitious and dedicated individual with the ability to proactively drive business plans and projects
