The position promotes the overall readiness of MetLife, its employees and business functions for incidents that threaten or impact the security of the company’s people, structures, technology and reputation. As part of Global Corporate Security group, this individual is responsible for Crisis Management response coordination in the United States and Latin America, and acts as the alternate to the AVP/Global Crisis Management Leader in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters and man-made crises throughout MetLife’s worldwide footprint. The effectiveness of this individual in protecting MetLife’s people and business interests in advance of, during and in the aftermath of natural disasters and man-made crises provides the assurance of secure and resilient operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and overseeing the maintenance of MetLife’s 5 Steps to Readiness platform to ensure high quality emergency playbooks are available to Crisis Management Teams at the local, country, regional and global levels.
  • Coordinating the company’s response to natural and man-made threats and incidents in the USA and Latin America.
  • Serving as alternate to the AVP/Global Crisis Management Leader and assisting the Leader in coordinating the company’s response to potential or actual crises around the globe.
  • Administering playbook development, training, exercises and other preparedness activities for the USA’s and Latin America’s 45 Crisis Management Teams to ensure high effectiveness during incident response and adherence to MetLife’s standards.
  • Support AVP/Global Crisis Management Leader in identifying and reporting on key metrics, financial issues and other matters relating to the management of the Global Crisis Management program for senior company leaders.
  • Regularly and proactively assessing impact and recommending mitigation measures to ongoing and emerging operational risks to MetLife’s associates, sites and operations.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • 5-10 years of working in a corporate Crisis Management position as employee or consultant
  • Experience in managing corporate emergency response, developing crisis management/contingency playbooks, and implementing employee life safety programs
  • Extensive contact network to enable access to external public safety, business, political and medical expertise that assists in the further strengthening of MetLife’s overall readiness and response capability
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated project management experience in a corporate environment or consultancy
  • Experience in use of standard business technology (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, etc.) and specific Crisis Management programs and applications (e.g., NC4, WebEOC, mass notification tools)
  • Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred but not required

 

Preferred:

  • Fluency in Spanish
