The regional actuarial modeling team has been recently set up with the aims to standardize all the actuarial models used by 10 countries in Asia. This new model will cover all important financial calculations and projections including local statutory, local GAAP, US GAAP, EV, ALM and EC reporting as well as pricing and M&A purpose. This is a high profile project which supports strategic decisions of senior management in local countries, regional office as well as home office.

THE ROLE:

The incumbent will be supporting the modelling team in implementing and maintaining MetLife Asia’s actuarial financial models on Prophet, mainly focused on the carrying out the design by the leadership. Also, the incumbent has to carry out the coding to meet internal and external requirements and overseeing the conversion of the countries designated to him/her

The incumbent will also be looking after issues that arise during the conversion. This includes understanding differences between new and old models, and explaining to/resolving with local countries if possible

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring the new model will be built based on sounded actuarial principles, high consistency among Asia countries and efficient system design. It is also critical to be in line with MetLife Global modeling standards;

  • Implementing Prophet model in accordance with internal and external requirements, with supports from team members;
  • Resolving difficult technical issues encountered during implementation for local countries and explaining variances observed;
  • Communicating to local countries counterparts regularly on issues arise during the project and understand the root causes of the issues;
  • Designing training materials and model documentation of the new model;
  • Working closely with local countries in designing optimal valuation processes using the new model
  • Enforcing efficient model controls and maintaining good model support after implementation

 

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:

  • Have past experience of successful implementation of actuarial models on Prophet for multinational insurance companies in Asia
  • At least 5-7 years of practical Prophet experience, in-depth knowledge of using advanced features in Prophet. ALS experience will be a big plus
  • Have experience of working with actuarial models for reporting, pricing and valuation under different accounting frameworks
  • Have past work experience in EV, US GAAP and local statutory financial reporting
  • A qualified or nearly qualified actuary from an internationally recognised profession or qualified by suitable experience, such as ASA or FSA.
  • Experience in using Prophet Enterprise will be a plus
  • Strong in communication with peoples from different countries and have different cultures
