The LTD Claims Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and coaching to disability claims professionals. This role partners with the LTD Unit Leader to ensure that individual team members and the team meet all key performance indicators.  The LTD Claims Support Specialist acts as a resource for any claim related and technical issues.      

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Effectively partners with the Unit Leaders to meet individual, team and office goals for quality, timeliness, compliance, and customer service. Responsible for working with the Unit Leaders on the development of team members including providing timely, detailed feedback on performance and coaching to address areas of opportunity.
  • Acts as subject matter expert and provides technical assistance and coaching to disability claims professionals. Conducts EA, quality and other block reviews of the team inventory to ensure financial and decisional accuracy, identify training opportunities and provide timely, appropriate feedback to team members to drive continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for all aspects of post-training mentoring for new hires. Provides in-service training as needed on any key performance, claim management topics and may handle a small caseload of the most complex claims if business needs dictate.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of IDI, STD, LTD, group disability, Workers Compensation, ERISA, Social Security and state laws
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a focus on producing results, and creative problem-solving abilities and the ability to think outside the box. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking, risk management, ability to handle complex situations effectively, and organizational and time management skills 

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of LTD/IDI Insurance Claims experience

The wage range for applicants for this position is $61,000.00 - $80,000.00. This role is also eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program, including healthcare benefits, life insurance, retirement benefits, parental leave, legal plan services and paid time off.
