You’ll be joining a business that is expanding, cares about the community and the environment. Role Value Proposition: 

We currently have the opportunity to add an Analyst to our London-based Infrastructure and Project Finance team.  Looking at infrastructure and project finance credits in depth across all infrastructure sectors, the credit analyst will benefit from an excellent environment in which to develop their fundamental credit skills.  This Credit Analyst position would suit a highly motivated and analytical individual with approx. 2+ years of experience gained in accountancy, investment management, banking or a rating agency environment. 

 

The Credit Analyst day to day responsibilities include working with senior credit analysts to review and assess new infrastructure and project finance private debt investment opportunities (primarily investment grade but also some below investment grade), analysing financial statements, researching potential new issuers, and the monitoring and review of existing portfolio holdings.  Over time, the credit analyst will gain expertise in various infrastructure sectors.  The workload can be challenging, therefore, candidates need to be calm under pressure, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

    

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Support the credit and origination team, including compiling financial and other information from company reports, public filings, industry reports, rating agencies, etc., and assisting with credit analysis, including annual credit opinions and new deal origination.
  • Assist in portfolio administration, data analysis, presentations and reporting requirements for MetLife Investment Management’s (MIM) ~$32 billion Infrastructure Debt portfolio. 
  • Utilise internal/external systems and models to support the PFI team functions.
  • Interface with all members of the PFI team, as well as other MIM units such as Portfolio Management, Trading, Research, and Legal.

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 

 

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with a strong understanding of financial statements.
  • Working understanding of fixed income markets.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork-driven attitude, but also ability to work well independently.
  • The ability to one day represent MetLife in front of portfolio companies and third party clients.

 

Required:

  • Strong academic background, with a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) degree from a leading university. 
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, team player.
  • Very good written & oral communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficient with financial modeling.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

 

 

Preferred:

  • CFA or chartered accountant is desirable but not essential. 
  • 2+ years of related work experience; infrastructure experience is preferred but not essential.
